    Pavilion Feedback

Amazingly, we're on our fourth month on the new forum, and the new site system. So much has changed just in the past year here, that I think that now is a good time to catch up with everyone.

We've gone through so many changes since the pavilion started. rampant staff changes, webmaster changes, host/server changes, layout changes, massive community changes. I'd like to think we've been able to get some stability going on here, and now we can move on to even more drastic changes.

on may 18th, some stuff me and Mikochan have been working on will be revealed. to me, this is a very big deal. starting on May 18th, (which is the deadline for the insanity contest, that I honestly dont think we'll get any submissions for since the contest was so stupid) and going all the way until the end of May, the Pavilion will undergo the last of the major changes that I'll be making to the site this year.

These changes were decided on by me alone, so now I want to open this topic for you, the community that keeps this site alive, to tell me what you want. feel free to say anything you want, everything will be considered, EXCEPT modifications to the rules.

if there's some new ideas you want to be heard, some problems you have, or just general feedback, go ahead and give it. I'm listening.

Well, I haven't been around long enough to have been a witness to these major changes. But it's stable enough for me to only realize that there were major changes just now. So you must be doing somethign right.

      Feedback-

I apsolutely love the changes to the Pavilion. Everyone runs the place amazingly, despite the fact I disagree with some stuff. But I shall carry on. Though I wish Doan the Nado wasn't kicking our ass.

I can't really think of anything that needs fixing.

if you disagree with something, let us know. we want to improve any way we can.

and doan the nado isnt kicking our ass. I dont see how someone could think that. we're not even competing (are we?). the only site I consider us to be in competition with is the mag. me and ixzion talk, we're friendly. we give each other advice on our sites. hell, we even worked together on a mag feature. but we dont hide it from each other that we each want our site to bury the other one.

if you want to look at it as a competition, sure. there's more active RPGM discussion at doan's site, but it's all pertaining to 2, none of them seem to care about 1 or 3. also, we have more RPGM2 games and demos on site than doan does. we have more registered users. counting un-registered users, the traffic reports we get around three to four THOUSAND unique visitors a week. Plus, we have history. we've been here for FIVE years. doan has yet to prove he has it in him to keep his site going for that long.

stat-wise, the pavilion is at the top by a large, LARGE margin. plus, we have Mark from agetec visiting here and talking to US about RPG Maker 3. no other site, not the mag, not doan, and not even AGETEC has that. once again, we're getting the RPG Maker news before anyone else.

It seems as though Doan's RPGM community is a lot better... with RPGM.

I dunno though, I'm not a major part, or even a minor part, of the actual RPGM community.

doan's site is better only when compared to RPG Maker 2 Discussion. no one there cares about 1 or 3. they dont get the traffic we do, and they dont have the number of RPGM2 downloads we do, even though they specialize with RPGM2. I'm sure that RPG Maker 3 will see the pavilion beating it's way back to the top of the pile. seriously. as of May 18th, there will be no doubt as to which site is the better. Trust me.

plus, we're so popular IGN stole their RPG Maker 2 preview and screenshots from us. how awesome is that?

Now is that traffic not counting us, the non-RPGM people?

I think it would be awesome if the image limit would be killed, and only re-instated to those specifically that abuse image posting(like having hundreds of emotes).

registered users account for around 90-130 visits per day. unregistered users count for a whole lot more.

I have seen the pavilion mentioned at every single major video game forum (IGN, EGM, etc), seen it mentioned on amazon.com, on ebgames.com, and dozens and dozens of other non-rpg maker forums. we're almost always mentioned in store reviews of file transfer devices, and the RPG Maker products. mag isnt. doan's site isnt.

the pavilion (me and blaze, specifically) is also responsible for slaughtering the RM2K community. we took don miguel down. MAJOR accomplisment there, not even enterbrain succeeded in that.

the pavilion may not have the most active RPGM discussion at the moment, but I blame that on RPGM2. we were involved in RPGM2's CREATION. so of course we had huge expectations that were crushed by it's graphics and complicated interface. but hell, like I said... we helped make RPGM2. that's something to be proud of.

while our RPGM discussion is low right now, we're still the #1 place for RPG Maker news, info, and downloads. This is un-challenged.

...Or at least increase the number of emotes, maybe, say 5 of the smaller ones(, , etc.) and only one of the larger ones(like convoy, eek, highfive, etc.)

I'm thinking of saying "screw it" and programming my own RPG Maker. It's about time we see more customizability in tiles and graphics. RPGM2 had a visual effects editor, which is all good and everything, but you still couldn't create custom objects, characters, tiles, and music. The VFX editor did give the potential to do those things, but doing these things should be simple and manageable, and not limited to using only a few at a time per dungeon.
