Conspiracy theory? Government. Beyond that. Tell me what you think of this.

    http://zeitgeistmovie.com/

This is a film so take some time and sit down with it. Please let me know what you think. Do not make rash judgements and post indoctrinated jokes or quips. This is honestly something I want to share and hear opinions on.

Please do yourself a favor and find the time for this.

    Thank you.

There's a conspiracy that the moon doesn't exist. And that 9/11 was done by the Canadians. Oh, and one about how schools suck the energy out of their students. The Twin Towers didn't exist conspiracy. Uuum, holocaust didn't exist and the Illuminati one.

      Yeah, WTF?

I really, really like the intro. I have to say I was hoping and expecting the movie would go in a different direction than it has in the first 15 minutes. I wanted to see more of a critique on humanity over a critique on religion. But maybe that's coming, and either way, it's still pretty interesting.

I am wondering if they've taken some "liberties" in comparing the different gods, though. For example, I don't see any credible source that says all those gods were born on December 25th, but I suppose the info could be out there, as I only looked for a couple minutes.

Here's a site comparing Horus to Jesus. There are a lot of similarities, no doubt. They seem to question the "12 diciples" and "born by a virgin" similarities, though.

I don't have time to watch the entire movie tonight, but I definitely will. Good find.

Still, it would have been amazing if the entire movie was like the intro. Fantasia with bombs.

The film has three parts to it. The first part is about religion which is an intergral setup for the rest of the film.

There is a famous film that was made in the 80's? that is like fantasia with bombs. But seeing as I have no memory - I can't remember what it's called or who made it. But it's all about imagery between nature and man and is the source for any such video comparisons you see today.

Thanks for checking it out and I'd like to hear your thoughts on the remainder of it.

Re: Conspiracy theory? Government. Beyond that. Tell me what you think of this.

Alright, I went ahead and watched the rest.

While there were a lot of parts I'm not convinced of (i.e. making a conspiracy of 9/11, the JFK assassination, the great depression, and so on and so on), the take-away message of the film is very powerful, and very real. We're losing individual liberties, and are often doing so voluntarily as the government grows bigger.

I REALLY found the ending to be captivating, in regards to the future Orwellian world they depict. I can't say I'm on board with the idea that so many major events in our history have been premeditated steps toward this goal of a police state, but with the way things are going, there's a real possibility that this world will become a reality.

It's pretty frightening to think what someone can potentially do with a monopoly on your liberty, your money, and your means of communication. How can you possibly have any control in such a situation? You can't. And this is exactly the risk you face with an all-powerful centralized government.

Not to turn this into a political topic, but if you actually want to do something about what you see here, I think it naturally follows. If you want someone in office who's actually AGAINST government regulation of your life, AGAINST the government controlling your money, and FOR preserving the basic rights laid out by the constitution, check out Ron Paul. If you liked this movie, you'll probably like what he has to say. Highwind, I'm curious if you've looked into this.

                  K... K... Koyanisqaatsi?

edit: Well, I didn't see Highwind's movie yet but something tells me America's headed for a more Brave New World direction rather than 1984. A society mediated by pleasure and distraction. The carrot, not the stick. TV, anti-depressants, recreational drugs, the *****-enhancing drug... why does its name escape me... and, well, pop culture in general are examples. Of course, there's overwhelming evidence for the stick too, I'm sure. I just think, or at least I like to think that since I actually just READ 1984 I'm terrified of such a future ever happening, I just doubt it'll happen. The way that kind of dystopia was carried out was just TOO elaborate and TOO powerful. That requires a LOT of energy and manpower and money I don't think exists. I'm misanthropic as hell but I have a little hope that humanity would rise against an institution such as that in its early stages. But, again, I'm sure you can convince me otherwise.

Just don't send me to room 101.

Its human natural to look for a grandiose cause to explain a grandiose event.

It makes the unexpectable and unbelievable event in our small world explainable and gives a feeling of comfort knowing that such tragic/vast events don't happen as a result of some simple cause.

For example, whats easier/more comfortable to believe-

A few powerful people in charge, with their vast ties to government offices and resources and who are lobbied for by equally big corporations with a stand to gain in an upcoming war in the Middle East come to a decision and take effect by using all of their connections and power to faciliate one of the greatest acts of terror ever.

                    Or-

19 men out of Middle Eastern slums train for a few weeks on video game flight simulators and overtake 4 commercial airliners with $2 box cutters, all within the country with the greatest standing military ever.

                    -

The mob, cuban exiles, the CIA, and/or the Russians, with all their power and connections and resources, pull off the public execution of a world leader within his own country.

                    Or-

A president riding in an open top limo is shot 3 times by a dissalusioned nobody and loner.

Looking at the objective facts, both explanations could easily coincide with each other.

I know about Ron Paul and I honestly think he's a Republican ploy to sway the few young people and collegiate/internet based voters away from the Democrats because ultimately he'll gain no real support.

That being said - I agree with many of his statements. I just have a hard time believing he's real.

I own all three movies in the series, but the first one (Koyannisqatsi) is by far the best to me. It changed my life, and I'm not kidding.

Hey Highwind...even with my DSL, I'm having a hard time getting this movie. I can't watch it while it buffers, and when I let it buffer ahead, it restarts when I try to watch it from the beginning. I've been looking for a direct download without any luck. I really want to see this all the way through.

Well, he's been preaching the same message you're hearing now for 20 years in the house of representatives. So if he's a phony, he's had the foresight to act a phony and make phony votes preserving individual liberty for the last 20 years.

                              Anyway, on with the show.
