    Please Help Me!!!

    I ran into a problem with one of my dungeons. Here's the situation. There is a door you need to get through, but you need to hit 2 levers to open the door. I also have the elevator trick in this dungeon. You can go straight to the 3rd floor where the locked door is. The events work great it's just the door is open??? It makes no sense to me because I didn't hit x to open the door. I thought it was because the events were to close to the door, but I moved them half way down the hallway and it's still open. If anybody has any idea on why it's doing this please help.

    And I'm sorry if this was asked already.

    I experienced something similar in one of my earlier game's. I placed four barred doors in an cross shaped room, and you had to choose only one in order to progress. But the north facing door remained open no mater what I did. I thought it was a glitch.

    I assume you were in play test mode. Try regular play mode. I have no idea if that will help (I never tried it) but it's worth a shot. Maybe. Other than that, I have no other suggestions. I thought it was because I had an event too close to it as well... nothing worked except destroying the floor and starting it over again.

      I already tried actually play mode. I even made the door need a key and you would get it through an auto event after you hit the two switches, but even the locked door was wide open. I'm just forgeting it for now, but I thought about making an event in the way and that will disapear once you hit the levers.

      Well if anyone else has an idea please say something.

        I guess I don't completely understand the question, but if you're talking about levers as in "pressure plates" you can put obn the floor, you cannot really have these control the doors in any way.

          Re: Please Help Me!!!

          The main problem is random doors in my dungeon are open when they are not suppose to be. As for the levers I know they only trigger events that's why I have events in front of the door to act as "locks". The door that is "locked" is for some reason open sometimes. It's just stupid you'll be walking and see right into the room then an event says it's locked shut. (that makes sense eh) I don't know why the doors are open I tried moveing the events away at first, but then I came across doors that don't have an event open when they're not supposed to.

          The only explination I can come up with is it's because I don't use stairs I use an elevator that warps the part to one of four floors. I figure this because the doors that are open change depending on what floor you go to first. Very confused??????

          If anybody has an answer or even a suggestion please tell.

            so the doors are open but the game has them as locked(you cant go through, even though theyre open)?

              No the door isn't actually locked with a key. I have events in front of the door that makes the door seem locked. You need to hit the levers to turn the events off. That makes the door seem unlocked. (That was confusing too)

              This is one ***** of a problem. I'm getting confused trying to explain it.

                Re: Please Help Me!!!

                I ran into this problem before, and there was two ways I fixed it

                1)move the item away from the door a little

                2)create 2 events(such as boxes or something) a little away from the sides of the door and place the active event in front(see diagram below)

                The locked doors are VERY sensitive to any items around them(even walls sometimes, so be careful on whats around them, I find option 2 to be the easiest way(also works well with dungeon steps you need a key/other item to advance with)

                If the doors detect anything around them they will automatically be open

                EDIT TO ADD
                You need to have at least 1 tile on each side of the door

                WRONG
                XDX
                XOX
                XOX
                XOX

                RIGHT
                XXDXX
                XOOOX
                XOOOX
                XOOOX

                Otherwise the wall will make the door open

                Im fairly certain this will fix the problem, but its been a while since I had to fix it, but I know I was able to

                  When you say tiles do you mean in the dungeon layout? And what exactly do the x,d,and o's represent?

                    Re: Please Help Me!!!

                    Sorry, yeah tiles are 1 square in the dungeon layout

                    X=walls
                    D=door
                    O=floor

                    Basically what happens is the game reads an object in front of the door and interprets it as a player and leaves the door open

                    Like I said Im not 100% sure what the problem is, so if this doesnt fix it explain in more detail the exact layout you have and Ill try to replicate the problem tonight and see what I can do to fix it

                      It's not working Well I guess it plan B. I do know of a way to do it, but it's just not as nice looking. I'll have to do it that way. Thanks for all the help. It's nice of you to offer to recreate it and find the problem, but that isn't necessary.

                          Re: Please Help Me!!!

                          Well I'm going to put some kind of big event in front of the door. (Don't know what yet) When the levers are triggered it makes the event blocking the door go away.

                          The other idea I had was to get rid of the events that make the door seem locked. Make the door actually locked. Have say a key card needed to open the door. Once the right levers have been activated it gives you the key through an event. That should make it seem as though the levers alone opened the door. I haven't tested it so the door may for some reason still be open. I'll post when I figure it all out.

                            Yeah I had to do that in a castle down in the prison cell, it looks alright if you do it right

                              *Sigh* It seems as though my trick has some drawbacks...

                              I can't tell you much beyond what JPS already suggested. Honestly, in practice it shouldn't be any different from using a warp point (I assume that using that warp point has the same effect?). I just avoided having elevators and any sort of puzzle trick too close to each other.
