i got 12 character who make up the high council. you may recognize the names as WOT which they are. to save time i molded the characters from the WOT book and then adapted them to meet my needs and to keep them inline with my games concept. now that they are close to what i desire i need to change their names to my own creations as i dont like copying stuff from other sources.

this is where you come in, please suggest names that are serious (no joke names here) and preferably have double meanings such as in myths or far past historic references. ive used hebrew, middle eastern, and other non english names which have worked before so those would be ok also. the name must match the person and the time that person lives in (use your discretion here). i havent 100% figured what time they are all from but it should be mostly easy to figure out and shouldnt make alot of difference (since their appearance helps determine that).

name are in order from left to right. ignore the white blotch under one of the characters, its a dove and i forgot to edit it out

The council: An order of twelve powerful people who try to control the events around the world. Rumor has it they learned of the time distortions and decided to master its power and utilize it for their own purpose. These people, spread throughout the ages, became very powerful according to the rumor. With the potential for their own power being challenge and striped away from them as the team works to solve the mystery, how will these people interfere to save their own power? How far will anyone go to maintain total control, would they destroy even time itself? Lies within lies obscure reality make a lie out of truth itself.

Mesaana: healer of body (high heal magics), sadist, snobby, talented magic, unrivaled magical abilities, over extravagant.

Grendal: Knowledgeable, powerful memory, complex minded, obsessed with sex (both sexes) and sensations.

Mogheeden: Sly, cowardly, sabatour, magical talent for deception and appearance changing.

Cleopatra: Fondness for men, politics, manipulative, lavish life style, likes to delegate.

Egwleen: Talented scientist, biogenetic research, nanotechnologist, and AI creator. Prone to be devoted to her work to a fault, misses social cues but very intelligent.

Lanfear: Beautiful, obsessed with love (romance), princess, spoiled (snobby), strong ties to royal resources.

Durham: Political master, able warlord tactician, direct, princely, top notch duelist.

Asmodean: Musician, pianist - best in the world, hates loosing, perfectionist.

Demandread: Most powerful of all, cunning, dangerous, high minded goals, well prepared, often micromanages.

Ishameel: very powerful, writes books on philosophy and the study of human behavior, discernment, likes to point out the obvious, sarcastic.

Sammael: sportsman, vicious general, prideful and competitive, often blood thirsty and not the least bit merciful.

Bathmaul: wise and intelligent, hides talents well, perfectionist, jack of all trades and talents, former adventurer.

I have been saving this one for a good part in my game, but if you want you could use the name Balnesh. Don't know for what character though. Doesn't really have any meaning behind it either.

You... have you read that book too?

As for names, I generally throw together random syllables until I get something that sounds good.

I really like the name Belenus. Its Celtic. It means " The Shining One", but I think it sounds rather evil. I was gonna use it but you can have it if you want.

Think something like Lord Belenus, or Dark Lord Belenus. Sounds pretty evil to me...

ive not read that book but when i nabbed the characters i liked the aspect of having one of the members a philosophic person to such a degree that their work would be obscure as it would be over everyones head.

as for names im looking for names with meaning so the pick a random bunch of letters doesnt work well here since im looking for some possible symbolism.

i finally sat down and rethunk most of the names for the bad guys. some of my name choices are rather unique (or rare i should say since i didnt make them up but dug out some old meaning).

the second name is the old one and the first is the new. when one name is present that indicates that the name did not change.

The council: An order of twelve powerful people who try to control the events around the world. Rumor has it they learned of the time distortions and decided to master its power and utilize it for their own purpose. These people, spread throughout the ages, became very powerful. With the potential for their own power being challenged and striped away from them, they vigorously fight for their vaunted positions. How far will anyone go to maintain total control, would they destroy even time itself? Lies within lies obscure reality and make a lie out of truth itself. Behind all the smokes screens lies the truth, but which truth is correct? Every one of them is scheming for their own power.

Shinobi - Mesaana: healer of body, sadist, snobby, talented magic, unrivaled abilities.

Elly - Grendal: Knowledgeable, powerful memory, complex minded, sex and sensation.

Amphisbaena - Mogheeden: Sly, cowardly, sabatour, good with dream walking.

Cleopatra: Fondness for men, politics, lavish.

Egwleen: Very good scientist, biogenetic research, nanotechnologist, and AI creator. Prone to be devoted to her work to a fault.

Vierge - Lanfear: Beautiful, over love? Dreamwalker.

Durham: Political master, able warlord, direct, princely.

Nikolai - Asmodean: Musician, pianist, best in the world, hates loosing, perfectionist.

Lucre - Demandread: Most powerful of all, cunning, dangerous, high minded goals.

Ishamael: very powerful, writes books on philosophy and the study of human behavior.

Hatamoto - Sammael: sportsman, vicious general, prideful.

Raziel - Bathmaul: intelligent, hides talents well, perfectionist.

i home these new names with better reflect my character and also move away from the copying that i had origonaly based my game on.

I say Odysseus(or Ulysses) for Grendal (he was a super smart guy, but slept with half the women he ran into), and Cassandra for Mesaana (Cassandra was a Greek ***** who could foretell the future.)

Also, there is no point in using names with symbolism if no one can recognize the symbols.

i like cassandra for mesaana better then i do shinobi. the hatamoto name has to be changed as i dont like it and doesnt think it fits. some of the other lesser known names can stay but i may have to secretly slip in their meaning.
