Ready those 'It prints money!' GIFs. Nintendo has announced that profits are soaring and its half-yearly net income has more than doubled compared to a year ago. Of course, what that actually means is a lot of people are buying Wii and DS consoles.

All this good news means Nintendo has increased its earnings forecast for the whole year from 245 billion yen to 275 billion yen, with total sales coming in at an expected 1.55 trillion yen worldwide. What's more, as of September 30 this year, the number of Wii units shipped worldwide is 13.17 million, while the DS has raced to 53.64 million units.

In the six month period ending September 30, Nintendo's net income jumped from 54.35 billion yen to 132.42 billion yen, while sales more than doubled compared to the same period last year, climbing from 298.8 billion yen to 694.8 billion yen. Wowsers.

isnt a loaf of bread like 5k yen over there? what does this translate into our currency (us or canadain or even euro)?

it looks impressive at the moment. a large jump in sales is probably do to the killer titles available for the ds and those upcoming ones from the wii. the sales over christmas are going to be spectacular, hope they dont short supply retailers.

Unless something has changed in regards to available Wii systems, the Christmas market is still going to be short-stocked. Probably just like last year.

becuase i called him out for a pathetic reply around a week ago, hes been bitter ever since. when hes done sulking im sure he will return to normal.

im surprised the yen is so much, but the value doesnt seam like much.

the actual value if valks numbers are right is about 13963963963.96 - 14billion us which seams closer (since alot of that is production cost and not profit). i didnt want to do this math myself which is why i wanted someone else to do it since i have a difficult time reading so many decimal places (i am not positive my numbers are even accurate).
