Looking for a few good men (environmental website)

So I posted a while ago about getting forums for my website, www.manpollo.org, and you guys came through. Now I'm starting to add content to the site, and I need your help.

Manpollo is a climate change website, and because I'm piggybacking off the popular manpollo videos on youtube, I'm starting to pick up some traffic. I was fortunate enough to get serious free advertising, and now I need some content.

The goals of the site are threefold:

    1. Educate. I am trying to present the global warming issue in a clear, concise, and unbiased manner. I want people to be able to hear both sides of the issue, gauge the credibility of those making specific claims, and make a decision about what to do about it for themselves. I want a no BS, full disclosure site that provides information in a way that the everyday person can truly understand.

    2. Get people moving. For people that want to take action, I want to give them information on how to be most effective. I'd like to provide resources for taking action on three levels: policy changes, free market changes, and personal changes. I'd like to provide possible actions for people who are willing to do varying degrees of work, and I want to quantify how their actions will help in a comprehensible manner.

    3. Get people organized. This task is way too huge for one person to take on, and I'd like to provide ways for people to get organized and take action by using the strengths of the community. For example, I don't have any experience in writing letters to congress, while others here are very powerful writers. I don't know how to build an electric car, but I'm pretty sure someone here does. I'm not exactly a great artist, but I bet someone here could make some awesome publicity for the site and for changing public opinion about climate change in general. And I'm not experienced in web design or creating web applications, but I know there's proficient programmers here that could make some sweet visualization tools or other applications.

There's a ton of talent by individuals here at the Pav, and it'd be a shame to put it to waste. I'm looking for your contributions. Let me know what you think.

But wasting talent is where i'm a viking. Good to see someone other than me doing something proactive. Very nice website as well.

I'm a good writer AND I enjoy trees. What kind of things would you want written?
PS- We should make some sort of video about climate change if you're still in MN. xD

Czechs has a good idea and he wants all of us to accomplish it for him.

I'm not in Minnesota anymore, but that doesn't mean YOU can't make a video. For writing, one project is just getting a large sample of high-quality letters up on the site, written to either politicians or businesses. People can take these and either resend them, or use them as examples of how to write.

Another project is just getting information and citing sources about all the stances of organizations listed at the beginning of this video:

Haha. That's pretty close to the truth. More accurately, I realize there's no way I can do it on my own. Actually, when I was thinking about who would be most valuable if they signed on, I thought of your fiction skillz, and how you could probably write up a really useful tutorial on effective letter-writing if you wanted to.

And people can contribute as much as they want. You don't have to commit to giving up your life. It's disappointing how people generally say they can have no effect on large-scale issues, yet they've never really tried to begin with.

Non-fictional stuff and instructional stuff isn't really my thing.

I was also not really damning you with my last comment; it's just the first thing I thought when I read the first post. I think it's really cool that you're actually trying to do something that's not just about self-aggrandizing, and I may at some future point try and help out, but I'm pretty busy with my own writing projects at the moment.

            God-speed and all that.

I tried to give you rep for this thread, but I honestly don't know what I could do to help (unless it involved horses).

I do like the pro-active stance you are taking, though. I applaud your efforts, but for now will sit on the sidelines and think about how I have no effect on large-scale issues.

Actually, it does. I don't have a camcorder.

I might write an article related to climate change in the next issue of my school's paper.

The professor/editor wasn't happy when, after presenting the idea of a green focused issue, I asked if the issue would be printed on recycled paper.

I'm getting the double page spread again, I bet.

If a 4th goal was to look cool, the site would be accomplished.

Cool, you should post it when you're done.

Also, I should say that I'm looking for some forum help as well, if anyone has experience in setting VBulletin up. I'll also probably be looking for some admins and mods.
