    Why The Smart People?

I'm not trying to boast or anything, but I'm smart. The only thing I hate about being smart is helping people with school work. (Get ready for a raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnt!)

Take one of my dear friends. She's a really sweet girl, but she's...well...not as bright. I always have to take time from workin gon my school work (which is quite vital to my grades) and explain a proceduer that is so simple, at least to me. I fact, most of my school seems to be like that! It's sooooo frustraiting and annoying! It's like I know when my classmates will ask me for help! I can never get time for myself!

But I am actually very proud of my friend. After working hard, she's finally getting good grades (A's and B's)! I was very surprised she told me her report card results, but in a very happy way.

    Smart people, eh?

I would consider myself a smart person as well, but it comes with disadvantages. You know, I'd be the type of student to finish my work first, and after I turn my work in, my classmates would snatch the paper and copy all of the answers, which really ****** me off.

Not everyone can blessed with your smarts, lady, but it's commendable to see you're helping out someone.

Yeah, my concious: a gift and a curse. Either way, the payoff's very emotionally rewarding.

I'm not too smart, as stated in your post. I'm just right when it comes to brilliance.

When I talk, people never seem to understand what I'm saying.

The valedictorian of my graduating class paid me to take his ACT for him. He wanted me to take his SAT too but I didn't because I was worried I'd beat my own score. That would've just ticke me off. I could have been valedictorian if I'd applied myself and cared and crap.

Don't pay attention to him. I think you're smart. Bright and full of ideas. Be proud of who you are. I think it's wonderful that you're intelligent. I'm not that smart myself, and I envy people who are.

Don't be a doormat. Helping other people is fine, but you have to establish limits. Teaching is one thing, and being someone else's crutch is another.

Also, if you're spending so much time teaching, why not become a tutor? You don't have to charge people if you don't want to, but you might as well put the experience down as volunteer work when you apply to college/ for a job/ advanced degree program, etc.

Umm... Because it would be pointless to ask idiots for help!

meh...I graduated 25th in my h.s. class (out of 550 people), got a 29 on my ACT, and senior year, pretty much had all honors classes. I went to the University of Illinois, which is not an easy school to get into by any stretch.

Now I'm 36 years old, and working retail.

Plus, my English is pretty much impeccable. Yeah, I know there's a difference between having intelligence, and having common sense (people have told me countless times I've got WAY too much of the former, and not enough of the latter), but I pride myself on having some small modicum of intelligence. Actually, it irks me a bit at work when the majority of emails I see from people in positions above me are rife with grammatical errors.

Also, 162, I think a good majority of the regulars here tend to be pretty smart actually, which is the main reason I'm still here. So making a topic about how smart you think you are seems to me to be a little bit excessive. If you are truly smart, I think people will recognize it without you pointing it out to them.

That being said, my sentiments echo Smurtle's.
