This may be premature, but here it is...

I'd like to tell you all about the game I've been working on, off-and-on, practically since I joined the pav.

    Everlasting Darkness(working title)

    Backstory:
On the world of Belegar there are four great nations: the Dwarven kingdom of Khazad, the Human Empire of Rome, the Council of Orc Clans, and the Elven Empire of Endoria.

Just over 100 years ago Forden, ruling Emperor of Endoria, seemingly went insane and started a long and bloody war against the entire world. Forden's brother Galden, and his sons Giladar and Galdar, forcefully split from the rest of Endoria and allied themselves with the other races.

Finding himself between a rock and a hard place Forden began employing the use of Necromantic and Warlock magic to supplement his elven warriors. Soon the allied forces found themselves combating mighty golems, magically enhanced creatures, demons, enslaved orcs, and even dragons, normally noble creatures corrupted by twisted energies.

After a century of war Forden and many of his top lieutenants were sealed away in a hidden location somewhere in Endoria.

Its been five years since the war ended, Giladar sits on the throne, and the elves are struggling to rebuild. With a population of 50,000, where there were once millions, the elves are calling for adventurers to complete many tasks.

Our story follows two of those adventurers. An Egyptian warrior named Sehkmet, and a Nubian Sorceress named Natusa.

(The following is a summary of the first hour or so of the game)

While sailing to Endoria to recieve instructions on their quest a powerfull storm blows them off course. Natusa is thrown overboard and Sehkmet is the only person to survive the ensuing wreck. As Sehkmet awakens on the beach she determines to look for Natusa and a way off the island.

As she travels north she finds a pyramid, deciding that it would be best not to poke around she continues her trek. Soon she encounters an encampment, which is the base of operations for a pirate crew.

Finding Natusa with the pirates Sehkmet begins thinking about getting off the island. Sehkmet soon discovers that the captain has a problem, a Warlock has been causing all kinds of problems for her 'business.' Sehkmet and Natusa must wade into the Warlock's base, which is the pyramid Sehkmet spotted earlier, defeat his various minions, and kill the Warlock. Once this is done, and proof is given, the pirates will deliver the girls to the island of Tol Harad, one step closer to reaching their destination.

As the girls fight through the pyramid they encounter even more Ooze than outside, they fight giant Ants, Hornets, and Spiders. They eventually must fight a Sandstone Golem before they reach the Warlock's chamber.

But when they reach it they discover that the Warlock had been killed by his own creation, the golem. By reading his journal they soon discover that the Warlock had once been a servant and researcher for Forden the Foul, and that someone, or something, had instructed the Warlock to begin his experiments anew. The most disturbing part was that the instructions had been made in Forden's name.

Believing that they're strange experiences on the island could be left behind them, only to be recalled in their old age to frighten their grandchildren, the young women sailed to Tol Harad, unaware that fate had chosen for them a very different path than the one they believed.

As they sailed they couldn't help but ask themselves: What new threat was poised to strike the world of Belegar as it still reeled from war? Why would someone wish to conquer this tiny island in the name of a dead elven tyrant? Little did they know the price in blood they would pay to find the answers.

So, what do you think? I consider most of this a work in progress, and I am willing to bend on some points. Basically I'm saying that I am open to suggestions.

Actually, it sounds pretty promising. What models will you be using for the main characters?

Re: This may be premature, but here it is...

Sehkmet - Amazon, Color Style 03
Natusa - Maid, Color Style 03
Aredas: A half-elf Ranger who joins your party later - Elf, Color Style 01
Borlin: A Dwarf Fighter who joins after Aredas - Dwarf, Color Style 02

I may add more, but I still have a city to build, and I need NPCs

I'm thinking of changing Borlin to some kind of Paladin, because right now he is too much like Sehkmet, basically a tank (absorbs damage and deals out some pain of his own ).

The game will include a few optional quests, as many as I can squeeze in without hurting the main quest line. One of which will take you all the way back to the Valley of the Kings for a ressurection item with infinite uses
But I won't tell you how to get there

Okay, maybe a hint: Its out of the way, its on the island of Tol Mara, and the air is alittle thin. Make sure to hold on to that little hint for when I eventually release the game

I am also going to try some new things with monsters, not sure what yet, but I want to make them less bland. It would be easier If you could see the monster descriptions I have :P

Well I think it sounds good. It's a bit different from other games made with RPG maker 3. I look forward to seeing what else happens in the plot just because it's a little vague right now. Just wondering how you made the ship sceans? I know there are a few ways to do it. Just curious.

Oh... and I really like side quests that explain more about the world and is still related to the main story. That makes things feel like an actuall world not just one thing that happens on it.

I am really eager to see this into fruition as well. I would be willing to playtest it too, if you need one. (and DAMN I thought I was the only one who was using the maid for a main character! DAMMIT!) Although it is nice to see a few more female leads in an RPG, there aren't nearly enough.

            What's the maid's weapon? Knife?

Staff. I adapted it by naming a few of the staff weapons after cleaning objects. Like the white staff looks amazingly like a Mop. ^_^

You can make ship scenes in RPGM3? Did I hear this right?

                No, no ships

My maid isn't a maid, she is a sorceress. I just used the maid model because I wanted a sorceress, not a witch

If you want to know more about the plot please ask, there is so much I have for this world that I couldn't sort it all out or summarize it into a coherent/reasonably sized post.

                For example:

Another RPG idea I have would occur during the war with Forden. You would be either Boudica, Warrior Queen of the Isiini Tribe, or one of her lieutenants. Boudica lead a rebellion against Rome in 60 A.D. against Nero's Rome on the island of Brittania (modern Britain). With the world as different as it is Nero never comes to power and Boudica is waging a war against Forden's occupation forces.

One of the more 'innovative' ideas is how you recruit villages into the conflict. Depending on how many villages you recruit, and/or which ones, the game itself would change. Obviously this is more suited to RM2 or RMXP, but I wanted to demenstrate that I have alot of ideas floating around for this world, alot of backstory.

I've been writting the history of this planet (Belegar) for over five years

Anyway, ask any plot questions you like.

                    Against Nero?
Like the real Nero or is it just a name you used... Because you can't kill Nero.

He will burn your church, blame your jews, and play his violin while it is all happening

Re: This may be premature, but here it is...

Nero was one of the worst in the line of Ceasars, the Roman Emperors. On the world of Belegar Nero never came to power because Julius Ceasar wasn't assasinated until later than he was here on Earth. A sufficient number of changes happened as a result that a much stronger line of Augustian quality Emperors followed (on Belegar anyway).

Boudica was a person from real world history, an actual Warrior Queen of the actual (ice-E-nE) tribe from the British Isles, who actually led a rebellion of the native britons against the Roman occupation in the year 60 A.D. She nearly succeeded too, but she spent too much time looting and gave the surviving Roman legion (only one of the three survived her onslaught) a chance to reorganize and pick a highly defensible position. I am a fan of the History Channel

The vast majority of the 'old world' of Earth is on Belegar as a landmass. I cut off the bottom of Africa, and about half of China. I'll scan a map I drew up awhile back and post it so you'll understand better.

Wow, you sure are excited and proud about your idea...
And what makes you think that? <- Thats a serious question.

Re: This may be premature, but here it is...

You know, normally I am the person who comes along and picks little niggling details about how your ideas are flawed and you did little/no research and nobody in their right mind would ever want to play the game you'll probabally never finish anyway, thank the diety of your choice.

HOWEVER, you have accomplished something rare among posters: a game idea that not only sounds thought out, but interesting and well on its way toward becomming an actual playable game that could very well dole out hours upon hours of fun for the entire family!

I like the Main Characters/Heroes being women (if only for its originality) and the whole "parallel universe" feel to your game is also a great sell. The only thing that I could add to the already astonishingly immaginative ideas you (and others) have already posted is to possibly add some internal strife among the different races that start in /join up with your party. Having everyone agree and the bad guys wear black hats is all fine and good, but I really love the "behind-the-scenes" conflicts. They happen throughout history as well (if you're determined to stick to the text book) but they also seem to liven up otherwise dull moments (like how can you recruit both the dwarf/elf towns, or the preists/necromancers??)

Again, you have done an amazing job so far and I do hope to see its completion, weather or not you accept my ideas (good or bad) and if I spelt "weather" correctly in the above line.

(You spelled it right, you just used the wrong "whether.")

Magus your praise means a lot to me, all the more because it is a rare thing to recieve. I hope you understand that the game I am currently working on does not directly involve Boudica, and that I was trying to demonstrate the depth available in this world. To clarify, it is the game in the original post I am working on. The recruiting villages thing was part of the Boudica game idea, but I'm going to write down your idea for future reference.

I am glad you all like my story. To be honest, I thought it was alittle bland, but then again we are our own worst critics

I must also inform you, regretfully, that it may be some time before I can release even a demo. I have some tweaking to do in the early zones (the things covered in the summary in the OP) and I need a max drive. I am also currently the team leader for the Galactic Civilizations II: Stargate Total Conversion Mod, which takes priority. I will work on it when I can, and hopefully I'll get a demo out some time before the end of the year.

I'm sure you now understand the thread title.

                            [Edit To Add]

P.S. I am still eager for any questions/suggestions you have. My ultimate goal here is to make something that everyone will enjoy.

Bland or no, the ideas are there and as you've only just begun to create this game things will fall into place as time goes on and the game itself is more fleshed out.

I wouldn't call my praise "rare" because I give it out whenever I feel it is deserved, but I do believe that this has got to be one of the better ideas that I have encountered in quite a long time.

As far as the entire team being female, well, I don't entirely agree with that (female dwarves look like garbage, IMHO) and not because "chcicks can't fight" or any of that nonsense. In being fair, I always try to balence between male/femal either in numbers or worth. IF there's 3 males in the party, then the female member is toting herself some pretty heavy firepower and more than just one ace up her sleeve. I don't want to get involved in any kind of debate about gender differences/equality or anyhitng like that, I'm just stating what I prefer to do in my games (or lack there of) and you can take it or leave it as advice or criticism or whatever.
