    The Cooler?

    New Link

I bought myself one of these earlier today. It resembles the Pelican model... except it's the GameStop version.

    Good idea? Bad idea?

I read how people had problems with it by melting to the xbox, but the one my brother has has worked just fine.

There are a couple versions of this product. The person who sole me this pointed out a similar one that he said would ruin your system. Seemed like an honest and well-informed person.

Mine doesn't have the things on the side to hold games in, so I just keep the system on it's side. Hoping that if I do all this it won't die on me.

Wasn't aware of the other version. My brother has the same one you bought. Just the fans, nothing to hold games with.

if it shares the power cord of your system, it has a good chance of killing it. it's pretty obvious, it's taking power away from your system. it's not getting as much as it's supposed to. yeah, that's dangerous.

Plug it into the USB port. You power it on manually.

When people ask me about the Intercoolers, I always tell them "Either way, your X-Box 360 is eventually going to brick. You'll send it away, get a new one, and hopefully, by then, they'll have given all the new ones the new chipsets, cuz until they do, it's just going to keep bricking. Now, if you HAVE to spend 20 bucks, get a Play&Charge Kit... something infinitely more useful."

I was going to get a 360 cooling unit, but Valk warned me about it frying my 360 to an early grave since it plugged directly into the 360's power plug.

I just keep my 360 in an open area where there isn't much space constriction.

Same with my PS3--the thing overheats so much you can bake muffins on its dashboard. It's why I also keep it away from ventilated areas.

The Wii? Well, I have my WiiConnect on all day every day, and so far, I've not noticed much overheating.

I leave my PS2 and sometimes my Wii on constantly and I've never had a problem.
