    Easter Eggs

I was just recently playing slogging through Wild Arms 5 (level design!) when I talked to one of the save birds. All of these birds tell you about one of the seven deadly sins. Well this one goes:

"What is greed? A miserable little pile of secrets. But enough talk... Would you like to save?"

Of course it makes no sense but it really caught me off guard. What's the best "Easter Egg" you've ever found in a game?

Final Fantasy (NES). One of the gravestones in the Elf kingdom reads "Here lies Link." And I think there's an obscure Dragon Warrior reference.

But perhaps my most favorite Easter Egg of all is Breath of Fire. When you talked to one of the thieves in Bleak, say no three times when he asks to look behind you. You see Chun Li in all her kicking glory. And boy is she cute.

You can combine certain items to create mega man's buster cannon in Power Stone 2.

It's not the best easter egg I've ever found... but it's the only one I can think of right now.

*guesses it's a Castlevania reference, but is not sure*

I like the secret room in Atari Adventure. Oh, wait, I've never discovered it on my own; I've only read about it.

GTA San Andreas: On top of one of the bridges theres a sign saying: "No Easter Eggs Here!"

If you import a car at the docks, most but not all cars have plates that differ from normal ones. One says "our fergie", or "disco stu", and a really special one says "ea sucks".

Timesplitters Future Perfect: ( Don't look unless you've beat the story ) *** SPOILERS ***
You can see your future self on the first level.
              *** END SPOILERS ***

Also on the Train Mission you can play the slots and watch a slide show of certian areas in the game.

              You can make zombies

              Gran Turismo 4:
If you look really close on the side of the Nike One, you can see a small area near the front of the car of morse code. If you go into photo mode, this will become clearer. The morse code is written backwards as to be seen correctly from inside the car. Spelled out, it is " www.Phil-Frank.com " the website of the Phil Frank Automotive and Product Design Company. Phil Frank was paid to design the futuristic Nike car specifically for Gran Turismo 4.

All I can think of right now.

"Iron Duke-Forged in the belief that power is but a
                number."

this is probably the only good thing i got from ffx-2. i found this statement very profound.

xenogears had a special thing in lacan village where you could see lucca and that ninja chick which are totally unrelated to the game. xenogears was the best for hidden gems as their was tons of punny references and joke items. the well was pretty funny, the graffiti behind the village signs, the wedding dress you get if you defend and refuse to fight tim. the bloody shower, the dirty mags, the music box, that menometer or whatever. i even found the monster red rum particularly cleaver.

theres other games and hidden eggs but i cant remember them right now.

Thank you Ωbright for the sig fix!
Card Three is released! You can find it here!

Only one I can think of, since it's so recent:

The Red vs. Blue conversations in Halo 3.

"Does Master Chief know the password?"

"How would he WHEN HE WASN'T AT THE MEETING?"

Oh, also equipping the high-cut armor on Yukari in Persona 3. First time I've ever seen an RPG female actually complain when you try to put her in armor that, based on the description, is extremely revealing.

Oh, there's also when you equip Jessica with nearly all or all the bunny equipment, King Trode gets all horny on the info screen.

The bridge keeper (MP Holy Grail), and Arthur searching for the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch(MP Holy Grail) in fallout 2.

I think there are a few other obscure Monty Python references in that game as well.

In Fallout 1, you'll sometimes get an event in the desert where you're standing in the middle of nowhere with a phone booth right next to you. An obscure Dr. Who reference.

And I think there's an obscure Dragon Warrior reference.
The well. In every Dragon Quest you can enter the well in the first village you're in but in Final Fantasy, looking at the well simply says "lol dirty face."

I think it was Duke3D that had a secret area that said "You're not supposed to be here."

Square throws in a lot of pop culture references in Final Fantasy (or makes jokes on past games). In FFT for the PSP, there's a character who says "You spoony bard." In FFIVa there's a little boy who says "I want to be a ninja! That'd be totally sweet" a reference to real ultimate power. In Parasite Eve 2, there's an Einhander pinball machine in the bar and Aya comments on how awesome the game was. In FF9, Cloud's sword hangs on a wall in that one city and Zidane says "I knew a spikey haired guy who wielded that." In Final Fantasy 7, when Cloud is in a wheelchair he constantly blurts out "Zenogais... Zenogais" or Xenogears if you will.
