For all you wieners who think you can't make a difference in the world

    Watch this clip:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mF_anaVcCXg

This guy has spent about four months researching global climate change, and has made a series of highly entertaining videos expressing why we should care about the topic, how we should think about both sides of the argument, and what action we should take.

This is a perfect example of how one person can have a huge impact simply by spreading information to the masses and affecting public opinion. The video was put up four days ago, but it's going to be huge.

That first video is under 10 minutes, and it's both entertaining and thought provoking. Give it a watch.

...This isn't really making a difference in the world, IMO.

Why not? You change public opinion, they change who's in power, they change the policies, world=changed. I guarantee you it has more potential than making posts like this:

So what's the problem? Are you failing to see how one person can change public opinion, or do you not agree that public opinion can change public policy? Both of these things have happened in the past, and there's no reason to think they won't happen again.

Wait, you think Mora is cynical?

In a way, with your logic Mora, nothing would ever change because someone somewhere has to start something that changes the world in one way or another. Whether its getting a group together or starting a protest, someone had to start it.

Probably not the best way of putting it but oh well.

People have neither the resources, time, or energy to do all this though. It ends up being the people with all three of those things that make a difference.

If maybe I quit school or work, asked (and got) donations for not only the movement of people but also for my own bills, expences (food living etc.), and everything else. Maybe then I could do somthing.

If it was somthing simple like writing a letter to a local congressman maybe. What would I say? "I'm one of your thousands of people you represent and I think this should be changed" this only works (for the most part) if a great deal of people write on a subject.

I'll wait for it to be huge before I count my chickens. I watched the whole video and gained no new knowledge from it. However you may be right.

Not trying to sound like a lazy bum, that's just how I feel on the matter.

Hence someone making a video like this. It's a call to action. Instead of one person writing their single letter, he's encouraging exactly what you said WOULD work.

Well, you watched the first video, which is just supposed to grab your attention. He's put up an entire series of 43 videos on the subject. It is a ton of information, presented in a very accessible manner.
