The fact that Internet Explorer 4.0–6.0 did not support alpha-channel transparency has led some people to erroneously believe that Internet Explorer 6 does not support transparency at all. However, colormapped (palette) PNGs can be given a single transparent background color, which works on IE and is equivalent to the transparency available with GIF images
IE still sucks in other ways though, and IE6 could not do translucent pngs, which is one of the better features of them. Also "Apple's Safari, Mozilla Firefox, and Opera have full PNG compatibility." not partial compatibility like IE.
Your web browser is a heathen web browser. All hail the one true King.
(I use Flock, which is based off of Firefox's code. I'd highly suggest it to anyone who uses Photobucket, Flickr, Youtube, Del.icio.us, blah blah blah. I can't wait for 1.0.)
