A Black Movie I'm Not Ashamed Of...

I had never heard of Tyler Perry until a few years ago, but I think this is the man that can save Black cinema. You know, the kind that doesn't make me think "What the hell were they smoking when they made this film?"

I have seen this movie twice since its opening on Friday, and personally, I think it's Perry's best work to date. There are numerous funny moments, *** SPOILERS ***
there is absolutely no use of the "N" word
    *** END SPOILERS ***
, and though it does emphasize some stereotypes, it is not done distastefully. I know the primary audience is African American, but I think any ethnicity will see this work and leave the theatre satisfied.

Ehhh, I give him a ton of credit but his works DO NOT translate well to screen at all.

I haven't been much of a Tyler Perry fan but the trailers for this one looked good. I'd go see it if I had a +1.

On second thought, never mind. I don't believe I'll go see this one Bonanza, sorry.

                I hear otherwise.

                Mixed reactions?

The Film Walrus may disagree with you, Alto.

                      Doesn't change the fact he's a dick.

Talk about a cash cow...we have no fewer than 5 or 6 Madea DVDs at my work...most are direct-to-DVD.

I WILL say, however, that if I had to choose between seeing Tyler Perry dress up as a woman, Martin Lawrence dress up as a woman, Eddie Murphy dress up as a woman, or the Wayans brothers dress up as "White Chicks," I'd MUCH rather see Tyler Perry, and I say that without knowing a SINGLE thing about the Madea movies.

Also, I once saw Friday. It was a'ight.
