    Myanmar protestors burnt alive.

AsiaNews sources confirm the existence of a crematorium in the suburbs of Yangon, where soldiers burn the bodies of protesters as well as detainees gravely injured during the anti-regime demonstrations. In this way the military junta hopes to make it impossible to estimate the exact number of victims.
    Story.

Oh, and Chevron is all tied up with the junta: Link.

You'd figure this would be getting a little more attention.

In the sense that they're burning people, I suppose. Though that sounds like somewhat of a knee jerk comparison

You're right. Obviously the circumstances are different. I was refering to the burning in order to make it impossible to tally up the number of deceased victims.

No, because no one will care and it won't change anything. Unless I fly over to Myanmar myself and put out the fires myself, nothing I do about this will affect it one bit.

Yes, you and millions like you can't do ****.

                  Touché sir, touché.

This is such a cliched exchange now, but you do realize that exact attitude is why the American public has to swallow so much bull****, right? Not even about something like being unable to provide support in places like Darfur or Myanmar, but on little things like habeus corpus being wrecked, or private contractors being paid to give our troops tainted water.

nice now we are crossing over into genocide and practices associated with genocide. i rather see troops go in and topple this place then iraq. its hard to believe in the 21st century there are still countries doing stuff like this.

sanctions are useless, the international community needs to step up and say they wont tolerate this type of government in the world.

I sent letters to my representatives on Darfur and only one bothered to reply to me, and he basically just did it to state how he had always tried to stand up for justice in Darfur and to remember that during elections. I can speak up, but if no one in power wants to listen, what CAN you do?

It's terrible. It's inhuman. Is there something more effective than economic sanctions and diplomatic pressure? It isn't working in Darfur though. *sighs* There must be an answer.
