It's sooooo close! and I won't be able to play it for a while... work is too busy.

BUT! I'm excited...moreso for having HL2, ep1, and ep2 on 360. I don't want to drop a ton of $$$ on my PC so this will do just fine. Ep2 is supposed to be even more engaging in its storytelling, and I CANNOT WAIT.

Do you know if HL2 explains the main points of HL1, or would I have needed to finish the first to know what's going on?

I'm almost done with Ep. 1 and I'm lovin' every second of it. I can't wait to see how the story turns out in Ep. 2!

But I'll have to till Xmas at least.

It might be a good idea to pick up the first one, but I played the first one before the second and still didn't know what the hell was going on. The first one never really named any of the characters, and there really weren't many plot points anyway.

Any word on the PS3 version? The advertising makes it look like it's 360 only.

I wouldn't worry too much about the plot of HL Gouf, It's pretty simple but at the same time it can be oddly confusing. They never really walk you through the story, a lot of it is just assumed.

Basically:

The scientists at Black Mesa research facility accidentally open a portal to an alien world which causes the whole complex to be overrun. The government tries to conceal the accident by sending in sweeper teams to kill everything. By HL2 the Earth is controlled by the aliens who have suppressed much of mankind into interment towns while government officials are in league with the aliens. Some of that might be off but that’s how I remember it.
