12.5" x 18.5", charcoal heightened with white pastel

For my Life Drawing III class this semester I have to draw ten life-sized faces, feet and hands for a total of thirty drawings by the end of the semester. Between five lab or studio classes and two jobs I don't have a lot of time, but I was able to whip this out last night. There's a couple things that need fixing, but I decided to move on.

BAD-ASSED. And yes, there are one or two ticky things that might be tweaked here and there, but you probably know what they are already. Overall though it's amazing. Good work!

That's one awesome charcoal picture!... Mind if I ask who it is?

Uh... It's a self portrait so I'm guessing it's himself.

Then again I could be wrong :p

Nice work Ryu

That is a good picture and i do not doubt it looks exactly like whoever it is supposed to be but............... Does the person in this picture actually wear a toga?

Very nice, best of luck on the next 29 drawings, I know it must be a daunting task.

Must the drawings all portray different subjects/stances/etc.??? or can you use the same descriptive themes?

Well...

Dang!

I only do computer art because I can't even begin to contemplate the merest notion of drawing even remotely as well as that.

He looks way meaner than I've ever seen him look in pictures.

And slightly deformed! :D

How did you take a pic of that? Digital Camera?

Or is it small enough for a scanner?

I've been meaning to document my work, but most of it is larger than 2x2'.

Very nice. Didn't know you were so talented.

Actually it's closer to....Jeff Goldblum.

EDIT I had a pic here, but it was too large!

Thank you for the comments guys, as well as for comparing my likeness to white and nerdy celebrities.

Although I said I was "moving on" from this drawing, some of the charcoal rubbed off the self-portrait (despite the application of several coats of fixative). So I took an extra ten minutes to fix that and make some minor adjustments to while I was at it. I have replaced the former image with the new one.

I've also completed a new hand study. This image is now in the edited first post.

Lil_das, it is not a toga but a wrinkly shirt with a stretched collar!

Den, I actually only have a 8.5" x 11" scanner so I stitched four separate scans together to create this image. Each scan has subtle differences in lighting and rotation, so it's tricky to get it to look passable, and even then it's never a 100% faithful reproduction. If you look closely you can see some edges. Most of my work is also too large to be scanned.

Also, if anyone wants their portrait drawn, post an image of your mug or otherwise send one to thehonorableryu@gmail.com. I'll choose the images that have the highest resolution, most interesting pose and the best lighting. If I choose to make a drawing of your face, I promise you'll like it. Everyone looks boss in chiaroscuro!
