    2D Graphic vs Character Model

I'm new here. I just acquired RPGM3 and am exciting to get started on an RPG idea I've had since I was in middle school (I'm 24 now).

I'm wanting the main villian in my RPG to be a black knight in full armor. I found a 2D graphic that works pretty well (Type: Knight (evil), Drawn : 4). This graphic has a knight wearing a dark helmet. In the character model (which I understand to be how the character looks while on the map as well as in battles) I can't find any character that has a helmet. I dont want the knight's face to be shown until a certain point in the game. So, is there a way to get a character model that has knight's armor with helmet included? If not, what's the point of having a 2D graphic if there is no character model that looks even remotely similar?

    Thanks for the help!

Unfortunately, alot if not most of the Storyteller graphics don't resemble there 3D counterpart. Which is a shame because there are some nice ones.

Yeah, Jamos is right. You just have to use what you got, but don't let that turn you away from making a game. You can still make some cool things. Welcome to the Pav.

        Thanks for the welcome.

I might still try and make my game. The thing is, as little of a thing as it may sound, keeping the Black Knight's identity secret for much of the game is a major part of the plot. I would have to completely rewrite the story/change the Black Knight's identity. You'd think they would have thought to include a knight with a helmet...but oh well. Still seems like a great tool. What a bummer though!!

What you could do is make him the knight in whatever color you want and then when it's time to see who he actually is change him from the knight to a different character model. One that shows more of the face then the knight like the warrior or the adventurer. I think that would still work except you would have to make a clone of him with the new model. You wouldn't have to rewrite the story that way.

          Just a suggestion.

I just turn the 2D characters off in the dialogue.

Unfortunately, they had one idiot in california doing the 2d portraits for this game and another idiot in virginia doing the 3d character portraits and the company failed to give the two idiots each others contact information

Thanks a lot for the suggestion. What a great forum this is!! People are quick to respond and eager to help!

That idea would work I think. What I've thought about doing is using one of the dark ninja models since they have their face covered. He wouldnt be wearing armor, but I don't think it looks too bad. Then, like you said, when it's time to show his face I could use a different model. That should work right?

I'll try and make it as brief as possible:

                        The Seventh Son

A king has seven sons and one daughter, the daughter being the youngest. One night the king is murdered by the mysterious Black Knight. The royal family decided to exact revenge on the king's killer and the 5 oldest sons head out to find the Black Knight. The two youngest stay at home, being too young to go out on this kind of adventure. The five brothers never return.

                        Several years pass (about 10)

Eventually the 6th son (now the oldest) becomes king. The game starts with learning that the daughter (the youngest of the royal family) has been kidnapped. The king and his younger brother (now 21 and 19 years old respectively) leave on an expedition to find their little sister. They discover that the Black Knight is behind the abduction. They pursue the knight, learning more about his power and his massive army. They must unite the local kingoms against the Knight and his minions. Throughout the adventure the youngest brother (the seventh son) begins to learn of his importance in his father's murder as well as his role in the Black Knight's plans. He must learn to accept this role while also learning to harness the power which is being unlocked inside of him...

Hope that makes sense...I've never actually written down the story before...it's just been in my head for several years

Alright, at first the story sounded cliche with the King and royal hooha like most games. I am impressed with the 7 sons, it's original. I'm not a big fan of games that have stories with revenge against the bad guy, kingdoms uniting,

                          AND MILITARY RPGS!!!!

The 7 sons thing saves story so good job
