Yep, looks like my boob tube gone and blew its servo matrix capacitor thingie... it don't work no more. For a little while now it's gone all spazzy when I turn it on but a good smack or two got it humming. I turned it off this morning to settle in and watch some Robin Hood on the computer (as my PS2 eats DVDs now) and when I went to turn the TV back on all I got was a thin line of light and color. All the smacking in the world didn't help it. But I can't complain too much. When you buy a 26" (or so) TV from a repair shop for $100 you're dang lucky to get 5 years of extensive use out of it.
But the question remains, what ever shall I do now? I could try getting it repaired, replace it with another cheap as dirt tube, or use this as an excuse to thrust my eyeballs into the fantabulous realm of HD technology. But I'm far too cheap for that. I could maybe get one of those low end HDTVs from QVC or somewhere else I can pay in sensible installements that don't involve financing it for 4 thousand months. Like so, for instance. So any advice, jeers, lotto numbers?
