I want to post on Youtube, but...

I'm not sure how. First, if I have a DVD I want to take a scene from, is that against the Youtube rules? Also, do I need a video capture card on my computer? What program would I use to capture it? Do I have to host it somewhere else first (and if so, where should I look besides IRC's suggestion of Fileden), or does Youtube host any videos that are there?

    Sorry for a noobish question.

    You need to:

    - Install a video input/video capture card on your computer

    and

    - Register an account on YouTube

You tube hosts all of the files on their server, and your video input card should have all of the drivers and software that you need to use the hardware. One thing though...WMV files are by far the WORST kind of files to use, because YouTube transfers everything to flash video (FLV), which hates WMV...they will look like crap. MPG or MOV are much better.

uploading videos you didn't create is against their rules. It's copyright infringement, but people do it anyway. My young frankenstein and history of the world clips I've had up for a long time finally got taken down.
