    Hey, Texans

What's a good part of Austin or a nice place around it? If my interview tomorrow goes well I will be moving to that area and most of the apartments look decent from the photos they throw online. Are there any bad parts of Austin that I should make sure to avoid? THANKS.

Edit: Oh, and not precisely in Austin is cool too. I don't want a major commute, but I'm hearing good things about a place called Roundrock.

Funniest thing I've ever heard. Where's your job going to be at?

It doesn't really matter where you live because you're going to spend an hour in traffic anyway. Pflugerville and Round Rock(they're basically the same thing) are ok places but I'd rather live in North Austin than them. I can't help you with apartments unless you want to commute from San Marcos(30 miles south of austin) but that'd be retarded.

Richard Linklater is from Austin. So is Robert Rodriguez, too, for that matter.

I can't get through the gate. The gate is narrow.

Austin is expensive and the traffic really sucks. Also, it's incredibly hot during the summer months (April-October/November).

So that's a NO on Round Rock? Ha. Ha. To be a little more detailed on the part of Austin.

Yeah, only about 33 minutes by plane. Twice I had to do it!

Austin is SO cheap compared to where I'm used to living, ma'am. Your basic Boston apartment runs very high, sales tax is killer, and gas is through the roof. Winter Park wasn't bad. Heck, I thought it was dirt cheap compared to where I was living.

Oh, and speaking of around campus, one of the groups that interviewed me (the bosses of my bosses) ONLY talked Longhorns with me. Seriously. Their stumper question was what is wrong with KSU and I got it wrong. I said they stink, they're crap, they blow. I was told the answer was suck, but I got bonus points for my pronunciation of blow (Buh-LooOOOooow).

So my interview in Austin went damned well, I think. Looks like Wednesday I'll find out for sure. If so, it's a dream come true only because the Chipotle is not too far away from work.
