    Suikoden series

which ones would anyone recommend? Is it a series worth getting into?
I owned 1 and 4 and both were crap to me. I also got tactics for x-mas last year but haven't played it yet.

Are the other games any good? and if so why?

2's real charming. But if you keep hating them, why do you keep getting them?

      Re: Suikoden series

I asked for tactics because I was hoping to play a good tactics game. I paid $12 for 4 because I heard it was good, and I paid $3 for 1 at eb because they were idiots I guess... But for $3 you cant go wrong. Made a nice profit off of it.

I just wanted to know if the series was worth it or not. I own all final fantasies except 11 and twelve, but I would hardly say that most of them were good. If I can find it cheap I would give just about any game a try once.

You hated 1? And 4? I'd say, how about don't buy another one?

Tactics is a lot of fun, and also hard if you plan on keeping everyone alive.

Four is by the far the worst game in the series.

Two is my favorite RPG of all time. However, it is very hard to find and you will have to pay a great deal to acquire it. In addition, if you didn't like the first, you probably won't like the second. The second is like the first on steroids.

The third one was okay. I didn't think it was that great, but many have claimed it as the best in the series.

And sadly I can't talk about five. I've never played it. But I hear great things.

ive played everyone and ive enjoyed them all. tactics was alright, but i think suikoden 2 was probably my favorite one. the price certainly reflected its sucess.

Thank you Ωbright for the sig fix!

suikoden II & III are my favorites. but, then again, i haven't played them after III.

however, if suikoden I was crap to you, then maybe you just dont like the series, as they all kind of follow a similar formula. basically what postulate man said... might as well not even think about the rest of 'em.

Yeah, if you didnt like Suikoden 1, then dont keep trying to find another, cause you will be disappointed. Suikoden 2 was fantastic, and i honestly think that Suikoden 3 is my favorite game...ever. But 4 absolutely SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS!!! 5 is very good, but takes a while to get going, I havent actually finished it yet...which is an odd thing for me. But it honestly feels alot like 2 in the gameplay and stuff.

I actually found Suikoden Tactics for less than $10 the other day, so i picked it up, even though it is closely tied into Suikoden 4, which is one of the worst games ever made. I'm gonna give it a try, and may actually try for again someday...because it is Suikoden.

I played the first one. It was all right. Nothing ridiculously special.

EDIT: It didn't get me to play the rest, so I guess I fail.

I love ALL of them...almost equally, but 2 was a HUGE disappointment to me. The main reason I like the Suikoden series is the collecting of all 108 stars of destiny. I jumped through all of the fiery hoops in 2 in order to do that...

...So I never even finished playing it.

...How'd that happen? One died on me and it still counted as me having him.

Nanami dies at one point...I did the thing that you're supposed to do to make sure she can be resurrected by Leeknat later...but that's AFTER THE FINAL BATTLE. The other guy that dies was one of my favorite characters, and I was looking forward to using him in the final battles...after training him up for nearly the entire game. If you had gotten all 108 characters, then Leeknat will resurrect him as well...but again....IT'S AFTER THE FINAL BATTLES. This was done so much better in 1...Leeknat resurrected Gremio BEFORE the final battle.

I liked Suikoden IV... II is the best though.

I don't see what the problem is, as long as you have all 108 by that one point in the game. Did you use them in the army battle mode and they died, is that it? If they died after that certain point, no harm no foul. If they died before, and you at least had them officially join up with you, it should still work. One of my characters died in the same battle I met him in, but the game still counted him as joining up with me.

No no...I could have resurrected them, but you just see that happen during the closing cinematic sequences. Once those 2 characters die, they're not usable for the rest of the game.
