    Advance Wars: Days of Ruin

Some info about Advance Wars 2 (working title) has started coming out. A lot of people have been suspicious considering the info was coming out of a supposed showing at the 2007 Micromania Games Show in France whereas there was just barely a mention of its existence during TGS. And the working title being Advance Wars 2 even though there was already an AW2. Apparently, it'll be sporting an all new roster of characters with a "darker, more serious" tone while maintaining the cartoony gameplay.

Why isn't this getting more exposure? I thought this series was popular.

I keep meaning to get back into it but then I remember the hours of frustration I had the with the first game.

Advance Wars 2 was just stupidly hard. I would've tried harder to get past some of the missions, but I saw what the final one looked like in a strategy guide and just gave up.

Eh, this kind of looks like a cheap knockoff... as if some homebrew developers got together and made LE ADVANCE WARS 2.

          will there be blood?

Seeming as the seires hasn't evolved aesthetically in the past, I don't know, 5 years of so I'm welcoming the change.

advance wars two was crazy hard. when i first played it, i saved in a bad place in the final mission where i was basically screwed, and gave up on it for a few years. when i finally played it again, i beat it in 4 or 5 turns. go figure.

and then ds came along, and it seemed almost too easy.

                plus jake sucks

Any body feel like giving their copy of Advance Wars 2 to me, since it seems to be too difficult for you all. Not that it won't be for me but I would like the game, and maybe the DS one. I wish they didn't go out of print quickly.

Videos and a couple more screens. Looks like it plays the same as usual.

Double-post but it needed a bump. Merge if you wanna.

Wow. Who'da thunk Advance Wars would go post apocalyptic?
The story of Advance Wars: Days of Ruin is one of a world in chaos following a cataclysmic meteor storm that leaves 90 percent of the population dead. The scattered survivors live in a diseased, war-torn world controlled by roving bandits and power-hungry warlords. The tone is muted, the dialogue dreary, the characters devoid of smiles.

Players of previous Advance Wars games may initially be unsettled by the frequent references to murder, pillaging and destruction—there's even a line from a barbarian named The Beast who wants more ears to add to his ear necklace—but the storyline feels more engaging than the light-hearted fare of games past.
Additions from Dual Strike like two screen battles and dual CO powers are dropped, and powers as a whole a toned down. New units include the Motorbike, Flare, and Duster. Gameplay is significantly faster as commands take fewer steps. Wifi multiplayer w/ voice chat and map sharing servers.

Sounds good to me. Intelligent Systems will be getting my money.

Holy crap, Mad Max Wars! I like this new direction as Advance Wars has changed very little in style since the famicom days. The faster gameplay also sounds great as AW's battles sometimes tended to drag on for a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time.

                            I'm all for this.

I'm all for it if the story's that much darker than its predecessors.

                              Plus, it looks totally different.
