    Woo Hoo! TAKE THAT, MONSTERS!

I just beat Silent Hill 2 for the first time. This also marks the first time in five years I've ever played an SH game by myself from start to finish.

I deem this topic to be spoilerful.

I thoroughly enjoyed it! I never felt like SH2 was important. I used to dislike the game as a whole. The characters, the story and everything about it! Now that I've played through it, I really felt like it was the best one out of the bunch. I hereby apologize for giving SH2 a bad rap for all these years. It is a great game.

Does anyone here feel like sharing their favorite SH 2 moments? XD I'll start.

First of all, I LOVED running down the street in dark mode Silent Hill and taunting the nurses by whipping past them. They'd howl angrily and swing at me, but miss. I'd giggle. It was great!

The ambience and the silence when alone in town were awesome. It was really peaceful in a way. I loved how the characters were tied together by one thing, too. It was a well crafted storyline. I think the only reason I didn't like it was because I had never seen the game the whole way through before, so I didn't understand. Really, really well done.

Now, let me say this. I'm a total chicken fraidycat. I did NOT want to go down into PH's labyrinth. I really didn't. (Ask the few people I was whining to online beforehand. >_>) However, I did. I stole PH's knife, and then I equipped it and started dragging it around. Suddenly, I felt like I was in one of Yam's cartoons! I started laughing and going "Hee hee, I'm Pyramid Head!" and proceeded to knock the everliving **** out of the next poor demons that managed to cross my path. My favorite was the one who, while I was wildly swinging because it was off camera, walked straight into the great knife with its neck. Way to go. I salute you, dumb demon!

I also used the great knife on Eddie. That tubbo took four hits from that stupid thing before he died! Now that's stamina!

    Two scariest moments:

1 - Prison jail cell where the opressor tile is found. The foot steps and the creepy voice... ew... *shudders*

2 - Nearly leapt through my ceiling when I stepped into the hotel employee elevator and it buzzed at me. Of all the damn things in this game that are scary, that freaked me out the worst! XD Oh man.

I like how the game managed to be quirky and cheeky about certain things. For example, the fact that the hotel pantry is stocked with apples and pumpkins. HAR HAR!

Of course, Pyramid Head was the star of the game, even though I declined to allow him to give me love taps in the labyrinth. >_> The first time I saw him in game, I stared at him forever. He's so cool! It was pretty freaky and neat to watch the two PHs at the end skewer themselves. I thought they speared each other for the longest time, but upon seeing what they REALLY did... wow. Just wow. Gutsy to the very end.

I must say, I sincerely look forward to replaying this WITH THE CHAINSAW IN MY HANDS, MWAHAHAHAA!!! *VRMMMMM*

PS: I promise to chainsaw Maria, too.

I love this game's version of the town. It's perfect. I've wasted a lot of time exploring the streets. And there are none of those damn flying enemies!

This scene probably freaked me out the most.

For a second I thought he'd really killed him.

Glad to hear you gave this game a chance!

      My favorite moments:

-Just after getting PH's knife, I attempted to make my way back to the ladder. As I was doing so, I ran blindly into PH himself. At that moment, all throughout my house, you could hear me: "GAAAAAH!" I had to pause the game and go downstairs into the light(I play in my room, in the dark) and calm down before I could move on. I had a good laugh about it with my mom afterwards.

-The entire prison/labyrinth area(I personally count it as one long area since there's no break at all).

      -The Dog ending.

-All of the little touches in the game, like:

In the apartment complex, if you try to open the door leading to the exit(and the first PH fight) without the key, it does the obvious "it's locked" thing. But when you walk away, you can hear something rattling the doorknob, as if it were trying to get in...

In the empty apartment before you get the key to the exit, I swear I heard something whispering in there. Can anyone back this up, or was it just me?

      -YOU FARTFACE!

I would always turn my light off, then walk right behind them. They would turn around and I'd click on the light, shotgun in hand, and blast them in the face. I would always yell, "Shotgun Ninja!" as I did it.

Another fun thing is to do the same thing, only with the pipe. Click on the light, bash them in the head once, click it off, and run away to do it again. It all feels very slapstick.

Man, it's been so long since I played SH2. It was the first one I played too. I got in on Xbox which I only ended up having the system for 3 weeks so it's just been collecting dust ever since, lol. At least now it's on the 360 BC list so if I get a 360 I can crack it open again.

Anyway, my favorite moment was when the radio started playing that trivia game show thing. That just freaked me out because it was so unexpected. I was convinced it had a deeper meaning so I kept wondering if the whole thing was being watched or if it would all turn out to be some freaky game show.

Another part that stood out to me was when you kept jumping down really deep holes. I was like "How deep am I going? Am I going to land in hell next? Nobody builds this far underground. Is this even the real world anymore?" and I was worried they'd have one you weren't supposed to jump down and I'd have to start back from the last save point.

HEY I LIKED THIS FRANCHISE BEFORE IT WAS COOL TO DO SO!

I love how the town and the buildings look in SH2, with a flooded, water-damaged look to contrast the burnt hellish rusty look of the other games of the series (or the pulsating fleshy umbilical cords of SH4). Very depressing scenary as opposed to scary.

My favorite part about the game is that you notice something new about it every time you play it, there is enough scares that you can only trigger certain ways that you're certain to see something you didn't last time. My first one of these is the creepiest, when you walk up to the grate in front of the stairs in the hotel and you just hear the whisper "James..."

In the empty apartment before you get the key to the exit, I swear I heard something whispering in there. Can anyone back this up, or was it just me?
I heard it in the room where you can go out to the balcony to get to the room next to it! It creeped me out cause it was so plain as day and I never remembered hearing it before.

I'm trying to see how many people I can get to play through this game together. There are not as many people who like to watch others play video games as I thought.

There is a voice whispering the "lyne house." I didn't hear it until a later playthrough. I have the file on my computer... somewhere.

It sounds like a person reading off a list of things to do. I can only make out something that sounds like "come home..." and then "tried to sedate me" but that could be wrong.

              HERE, YOU TRY.

My favorite part has to be the scene with Mary and James on either side of the jail bars. With her sitting in that room all alone with a dim light overhead.

Where does that whisper occur? The second apartment building? The rooms with the balcony?
Oh my god! You are so beautiful.
I had no idea how beautiful you were.
