EDIT: Warning: article contains strong swear.

What a crying shame. Everyone has the right to freedom of speech.

Though "**** Bush" is a little extreme, the students do have that right to say it if they want to. Our President's not exactly that popular right now.

To think that there are some who still support this man baffles my brain.

INTERESTINGLY, this topic has almost nothing to do with bush. it's about feedom of speech. and while you're allowed to say whatever you want, if your boss decides he or she or they don't want it in their product, you can either find another outlet or preach it on the street corner.

i think if our parents survived the military shooting and killing students, these college crybabies and their "BRUTAL TAZERINGZZZ!!!" need to get over it.

seriously, you got tasered. big ****ing whoop. electricians everywhere are laughing their ass off at you.

this article is badly written, it jumps from topic to topic without explaining much of what happened and doesnt provide enough background information. so much so that even i cant form an opinion on it.

Thank you Ωbright for the sig fix!

Would you still think this guy deserves freedom of speech if his headline was "Rape little girls"?

The first amendment isn't a blank check that allows you to act however you want. It's not a shield you should be able to hide behind when you act inappropriately.

I didn't read the article, but if this is about the incident where the student was tased for stalling on the mic about Bush, **** that. There is a growing problem, or at least a growing awareness of police officers abusing tasers. I have seen on multiple occasions police skip any valid questioning or even handcuffs, and go straight to the high-voltage pain-device.

                    police taser student.

Yeah, the guy's an asshole, but does anybody deserve to get sent to the ground with 200 kv in this instance?

police taser woman for not cooperating

police repeatedly taser student earlier this year. his body weak, they demand him to "stand up". Cops threaten to tase people who ask for their badge number(illegal).

Police tase protester while restrained on the pavement.

etc etc fight the power write your congresman **** tha police etc.

Copwatchers, a youtube channel dedicated to making incidents of police brutality open to the world. Looks promising/depressing.

                    p.s. **** Bush.

raping little girls is against the law. inciting people to break the law...is against the law.

however, if he did something offensive that wasn't against the law, would i think he deserved freedom of speech? no. would i recognize that he had it? yes

Ok, what if the headline was "F Jews, I hope they all die"? Would people still be here in support of this guy, saying he has freedom of speech? Or would they say he was wrong and deserves to be fired? Probably the second.

"deserves to be fired" is up to his employer, like i said. if his employer supports him, that's the end of the "can he say it in the paper" issue. if your only complaint is whether or not he should be allowed to say it in the paper, it's not really a freedom of speech issue at all.

My complaint is people bringing freedom of speech into trivial issues.
