    So close, yet so far...

Toady I walked into a little ma & pop-type run VG Store. They had a ton of rare games, and I was totally stoked.

Problem is, the bastards know just how rare and much much these games cose. Bastards.

    Valkyrie Profile $85
    Suikoden $30
    Persona $50
    Persona 2 $55

And about... 10 other rare games. ANGER.

Ma & Pa got wise when twenty copies of Earthbound priced at 99 cents flew off the shelves.

persona for 50 dollars is a good deal, definately. none of those prices are that bad other than valkyrie profile.

there's a store that used to be here in the mall, called gamenutz. that place was awful. used copy of frogger for PS1 was marked at 45 dollars. they only lasted 2 or 3 months. then there was video interactive, and they also sucked, and they're dead now. they were good for one thing, got a DC ascii arcade stick there for 20 dollars new.

They don't exist down here anymore, either. The closest we've got is Game Xchange, which has every crap game you could ever want, but the rarities never float through anymore. They went from Ma & Pa to Corporate in like, 3 months.

I own Valkyrie Profile! I got it for $25 used a couple years back.

I frequented a mom and pop game store in San Marcos around 2003. That's where I got my second master system and phantasy star. The guy that ran the place was a total hick, but he knew his video games and was a huge gaming freak. He loved to talk about all the crazy crap he owned, or was currently importing.

The shop had very good prices and lots of stuff for older systems. He would periodically give me whatever game promos he had lying around, which was awesome. While he knew what stuff was rare/expensive, he never charged the outrageous prices some stores (and people on eBay) charge.

I hope he's still in business, but who knows?
