My question...what makes certain Anime generic compared to other Anime.

And what makes this anime generic? Is it the story? the characters? the animation/art style?

Also, is one of the reasons it is being called generic because it is done in the Akira Toriyama style? And everyone hates Akira Toriyama because he made DBZ, and it is cool to hate DBZ, and most everyone here wants to fit in with everyone else?

It's generic because it's not doing anything different, new, or even interesting. I'm not going to bother going through the technicals of it, because it's frankly not worth my time.

You sound like more of an elitist snob than anyone for insinuating that we dislike something just because we want to fit in. People have tastes different than you. It's not a part of some conspiratorial effort to make us feel better about ourselves.
