Thinking of seeing Resident Evil: Extinction tonight

I mean, my friend Charles and I love Resident Evil, both truly and ironically. He wants to see Extinction, and I agreed to. I don't see him too often, so was long as we get to hang out, that's cool.

But I'm worried. Jill isn't in this one, and I hate Milla. And the movie already has a 23% on Rotten Tomatoes. I have so many movies I want to see, I'm afraid of throwing money away at CRAP.

So I tried to remind myself, Hey, I love Resident Evil: Apocalypse, but there are reviews from critics who loved Apocalypse saying that Extinction sucks.

Apocalypse has 21% on Rotten Tomatoes.

I'm thinking of calling Charles up and telling him, HEY, why don't we see Paprika at the Brattle Theatre instead? I'm not sure he'll be down with it - he may even accuse me of chickening out.

So, who's gonna see Extinction tonight?

I liked RE:A when Milla and Token Black Guy weren't on-screen. It FELT like RE. That intro with Jill? AWESOME.

I would never pay movie theatre prices to see this. I'll wait for it to be on digital cable...

I love post apocalyptic movies, a lot, and zombies even much more, but that doesn't mean they're worth spending money to see.

I liked the first, not Apocalypse. I'd go see Extinction if I had somebody to go with if just to complete the series. Just ask if he wants to see something else instead since you think REE will be a waste of money. If he insists on Extinction then it's still worth it just to hang with him.

I saw it. The thing about bad movies is that I can enjoy them as long as they're not boring, and Extinction was not. Like a video game, it was just setpiece after setpiece. And I am okay with that.

Interestingly enough, I didn't hate Alice this time. In fact, I realized that she's conceptually pretty intersting. The whole point of the T-virus was to make a fully-functioning super organism, and that's pretty much what she is - the only one of her kind that exists in the whole franchise.

The villains were ridiculous, and greatly so. Surprisingly, I think the movie knew that, too.

Claire was a big ****ing waste. She wasn't really Claire-ey at all.

I will not oppose the next installment.

I hated the first movie... because it was boring as hell and nothing happens until an hour in. And Apocalypse was enjoyable until the completely unbelievably stupid Alice vs Nemesis fight. So this movie isn't getting a penny from me.
