Re: Skate.
Yeah, I got it on Friday. It is a lot of fun, and looks great. It's pretty amazing how expansive the city is, and how it all can be skated.
I love the authenticity of the game. It's actually really satisfying when you're able to line up and time a grind just perfectly. It's not like Tony Hawk where you just ride up to a rail and hit a button and you're good. It can be a seriously difficult game at some points. A lot of the challenges take at least a dozen tries.
My only real problem with Skate, so far, is that I have trouble being precise with the flickit system. When they ask me to do a 360 Flip, half the time I do a 360 Pop Shuvit instead.Last edited by Vanilla Iced Tea; 09-16-2007, 04:24 PM.

Re: Skate.
I bought on friday also and find it damn amazing.
There is much more of a feeling of accomplishment when you finish a set of tricks compared to the Tony Hawk games, not mention the game is gorgeous to boot.
Gamertag is Robbotronz, so Kire and anyone else that has this should add me. I gots awesome vidses.

Re: Skate.
Well I got this yesterday, and it is pretty fun, though the flickit controls take a lot of getting used to, and it's much easier to do exactly what you want in Tony Hawk I think, though I like the feel of this game better. Anyone else notice how this game is just a long running ad, serious Sidekick, and all the apparel shown off when you meet anyone. Ridiculous. But I guess that's the price you pay when going with EA.
So my PS ID is my usual one, if I can play people on 360's let me know when you're on, as I think this is one game I might enjoy playing online.
And the city is HUGE, I didn't expect it to be so big, and no out of bounds so far.Last edited by thetruecoolness; 10-18-2007, 11:03 PM.

Re: Skate.
Yeah I don't think it detracts a whole lot, but I don't mind that the skateboards and such have sponsors on them, but do they really need to point it out on everyone you meet. I think that was a little unnecessary.Originally posted by PostulateMan View PostOh yeah, I got this a few weeks ago.
I do think that the Sidekick and the Adidas store are a bit of an ad cash-in, showing the people's sponsor doesn't feel like that to me. I mean, that's one of the things that makes pros pros.

Re: Skate.
So, yeah, I'm late to the party. I just picked this up and I sUUUHck.
I wish for two things.
(1) A ****ing skater's glossary. I didn't grow up in skater culture and have no idea what they're talking about half the time. The Trick Log helps a little but it took me a long time to figure out what a "hubba" was.
(2)A mode that you can select that shows your stick-movement vs. the trick you're attempting to pull off. It's maddening not being able to tell where you're screwing up after 50+ tries.
I'd also like to step on P-Rod's nuts for making me do a Nollie 360 Flip onto a hubba and grind down.So you're a fish out of water...
Keep swimming.
What else can you do?
