Did the Dead or Alive movie even hit theaters???

I see it's already coming straight to DVD.

And for some reason, the release date seems somewhat appropriate to how bad this is gonna be.

Yeah, I just saw the commercial for it.

At first I thought it was the Soul Calibur movie with all them swords...
    ...and that's why.

According to Rotten Tomatoes it opened in June and was shown in 505 theaters, where it grossed a total of $260,713 in week 1. Good enough for 18th place.

      There was no week 2.

            Wow, only a week?
            Not good.

My friend downloaded it and we watched it a couple nights ago on his big projector screen. Sometimes we like an occasional braindead action 'guy flick', but this one emphasised the braindeadness and minimised the action. The fight scenes were all pretty lame, and the villain seemed to use the same cheesy plot element as the second Street Fighter animated movie (no, not the good one -- the second one).

That being said, the girl playing err...Helena? She was pretty hot.

The first SF movie wasn't good, either.

The 1st animated movie = ROCKED UR SOX.

I saw DOA too. It wasn't as bad as I thought, though it was still bad.

Reminded me of late 80s/early 90s MA flicks.

Unequivocally 'good' or not, I enjoyed it immensely.

How? It was so cheesy. The fights weren't that great, either.

Because I was a young teenager who used to play the Street Fighter games religiously, so it sated my fanboyism.

But Chun Li's tussle with Vega was classic, and I recall the final fight with Bison being entertaining. Then again, it's been years since I've watched the damn thing.

I'm not claiming it to be a bloody work of art, just that it was fun to watch for a Street Fighter fan.

You can get it for free on the SF Anniversary Collection. That was my first time seeing it and the Vega/Chun-Li fight was memorable only for the fact that it was post-shower and even though Chun-Li is supposedly battered at the end of it, she only has some small cuts and bruises at the end of it. Whatever!

Yea, I can understand that. God forbid that an attractive woman would actually look beaten up and borderline disfigured after a rough fight...

I still need to get my hands on that Anniversary Collection.

i've never seen someone *****, yes, *****, about that particular fight, but then again i've never known of anyone who murdered the child within them at such a young age.

also, more realism in my movies about people with super powers please. i mean, COME ON.
