    PS3 Network Troubles

I was prompted to update my PS3 Network, which I was doing until something went wrong. Now it's not letting me go online for some reason.

I'm really concerned because I was updating it through the internet and somehow halfway through the download process (about 50%), it reset the machine automatically.

It's a wired network, so the connection should be concrete. Right now, the PS3's not letting me go to the network!

Anybody know the reason behind this?

I tried that, but I need an internet connection to update the browser. And when I tried to update through the console, it said there's no updates available. So basically, I need to get the PS3 hooked up to the network to update the network, and I can't even get a connection.

            Fantastic.

Calling the manufacturers directly is something I never like doing, but I don't have much choice in the matter anyway. Thanks for the help, guys.

you can go to sony's website to download the 1.92 update to your PC. from there, you can burn it to cd or put it on a flash drive. i don't remember how you have to create the directory structure, but it's on the site you get the updates from. from there, pop in your media and tell it to update from the media instead of the internet connection.

if it won't let you update, try this:

with any SD card or Flash drive big enough, pop it in and copy off all your game saves and settings data, and any downloaded content you can. game demos, unfortunately, can't be copied. when that's over and done with, tell the ps2 you want to reset to factory settings (it's in the system settings, i thnk). Once that's done try to get your updates and reconnect.

please please please try the top option first. the second option is a lot to go through, and if you don't back anything up, poof. vanished into the night.

Misty, it probably partially downloaded the file. You have to delete the file, and you should be able to download it again. If that doesnt work, go to Sony's website and download the file.

You, reverendwolf, are my Knight in Shining Armor!

                  Bless you!!

I'm gonna try that right now. I just know I can get this resolved without having to talk to Sony about it!

                  EDIT: Thank you too, Jeroak!

I convinced my 360 that the PS3 is a good friend and that they should get along with each other. Yeah, my 360 MIGHT be a little jealous, but I give it equal love. The Wii loves everyone.

See? They're shiny, happy consoles holding hands and eating ice cream on a Saturday.

By the way, I got my network to function, so everything's good. The PS3 is just fine now. Thanks, everybody, for helping me out during this difficult time.

                              The Wii avoids me still.
