I just brought about 30 books.

And it only cost ten bucks.
A library near my mom's was selling book that hadn't been checked out in 20 years (or had the word witch in the title) and I brought a bunch of them. I bought 22 of Edgar Rice Borough's 24 Tarzan books, a Dale Carnagie book, All the Presidents Men, the Hunt of Red October, The Black Arrow, and Kidknapped.

I could have gotten two of those books for free last week, but I didn't get there early enough. Because I'm a loser.

    Good lot there.

Rick! I'm shocked at you for not pointing out Blackberry said brought instead of bought.

They were getting rid of books with "witch" in the title? Why?

I'm with Dreamknight. I first read the title and thought, "Where?"

I just don't bother with it on the internet anymore. Until I'm critiquing something.

religious hippies dont want their children reading something that might cause them to see reality and find out that their parents are smoking vast amounts of bs. if this is the most important issue parents are facing, to let a child read a book title with the name witches, or not, then the world is in a good condition or very delusional.

                Number one:
"religious hippies" is an oxymoron, hah, even colloquially though, it doesn't make sense.

                Number two:
                I disagree with you.

My argument: Read back what you just wrote.

                *hint hint*
                Witches don't exsist.

I don't mean to pick on you, but you should really think before you say things. You and Sez. It just seems like you guys are just pulling things out of thin air.

Follow your own advice will ya? What karr said isn't exactly too far-fetched.

Anyway, that's a good deal IMO Blackberry, but I would've bought some other books aside from Tarzan, never liked 'em too much. What kind of books did you see that you might've wanted, but didn't get?

Re: I just brought about 30 books.

Religious Hippies? What are those? White Rastafarians?

The smoking BS? So they know witches aren't real? Or are they? Do they think witches are real or not?

They don't want their kids reading books about witches so they won't face reality? What? Witches aren't real.

Then he tops it off with the same thing he always tries to do when he makes a big point about something, and that it is: It's trivial anyways, the people involved have nothing better to do.

He would do a lot better if he elaborated more instead of just pulling things out from nowhere and making up words. "I hate hippies, and religious people. Hey... Religious hippies."

Re: I just brought about 30 books.

im sorry you dont like my use of words, so ill carve it out in plain english since the hidden meanings where missed. a short quip is plenty in a topic like this else youd get long blown out battles over religion and end up with terr style postings (long and rather ranty).

indeed the religious hippie doesnt make sense but ive used this term for a different reason then the idioticness of it youve pegged me for. if your so obsessed with religion that you warp it into something it cant be (such as a religious hippie, a person who believes in two doctrines that clash) then you get just this sort of person.

i wasnt referring to witches being real (magic casting, warts, flying broomsticks), however i was looking back to the earlier times when certain religious bodies went after "witches." todays believers see them as a promotion of demonism, false gods, and blasphemy. the reality i was referring to was the difference between fictional witches, historic witches, and the general connotation of the word, all generalized and demonized itself because of religious connotation. these people would rather turn the word itself and all associated with it into a taboo or evil thing rather then face that its just a word which happens to denote a generalization or cleverly used in book titles.

more so they would have to lobby against a public library just so their children wouldnt to happen across them by mistake? i guess the freedom of the public is not as important as the religious rights of a few.

bottom line is these people are a disgrace to their religion, they bely the very principles it was founded on and constructed for and in doing so they harm the general publics rights. they would rather scream and shout to have these harmless books removed from public libraries and we as a public are to stupid to tell them to **** off. furthermore to associate so much tabooness into a word with such generalized meaning is ludicrously itself.

that was the blunt argument i was trying to avoid since religion is a sensitive topic and i feel very outspoken and controversial on it. of course you didnt get that because you where looking to read the words themselves, not what was said between the lines or cleverly suggested to those who took the time to think deeper.

edit: as for a white Rastafarian, i had that argument with my gf a year ago. i said their was no such thing as an albino blackman and she said there is, Micheal Jackson. appearances are deceiving, and their is always exceptions to the rule. just because it sounds insane doesnt mean it isnt possible, it just means that perhaps your looking at it from the wrong point of view or angle.

You feel controversial? How does one acquire that feeling? Controversy only arises during a discussion where differences of opinion are shared. And I guess, in a sense, you ARE controversial, inasmuch as nobody here really ever agrees with points you try to make. But that might be due to the fact that half the time, your arguments make VERY LITTLE SENSE, and sometimes, to me, anyway, it seems as if you are arguing against the thing you have previously stated that you agree with. I used to just ignore your posts, Karr. But I read them now. Unfortunately, 9/10ths of the time, I have absolutely NO CLUE what the hell you are even trying to say (your poor grammar and spelling doesn't make it any easier)...sometimes, it seems as if even YOU don't even know what you are trying to say.

of course you didnt get that because you where looking to read the words themselves, not what was said between the lines or cleverly suggested to those who took the time to think deeper.
I don't think I even need to comment on the bolded statement.....well, I will anyway. WHAT?!?!?!?! Your words are difficult enough to even begin to comprehend in the first place, Karr, that if you actually, truly believe you have typed something with a deeper meaning or something that was "cleverly suggested," you are seriously deluded. Please, Karr, I'm NOT trying to burn you or anything, but before you hit the submit button, read over what you have written a few times, especially when you get involved in a discussion like this. I know absolutely NOTHING about half the stuff Terr posts, but at least it's semi-coherent. Karr, you befuddle me. I REALLY want to understand you. You don't seem like a complete moron or anything. You seem to be able to think your way around issues. Which is why it's SO CONFUSING. I don't know how to put it any other way, so I'll just say it like this: KARR, START MAKING SENSE!

edit: as for a white Rastafarian, i had that argument with my gf a year ago. i said their was no such thing as an albino blackman and she said there is, Micheal Jackson.
Not correct...he was not born albino...he just had a pigment reduction or something. There are albino black people, though. A reggae artist named Yellowman is one of them. So is Kire's boyfriend.

just because it sounds insane doesnt mean it isnt possible, it just means that perhaps your looking at it from the wrong point of view or angle.
Not to beat a dead horse here, but you end your post on such an emphatic note that it bears repeating...throw us a bone, here. At least SOMEHOW let us know what your point of view even is. You always end up in these arguments every few weeks or so because I think (and this is just my observation) nobody has any f***ing idea what the hell you are even trying to say or what idea you are trying to convey or what you are even arguing for or against. If what you type actually makes sense to you, please find a way to transmogrify yourself into Rod Serling's corpse and take the entire Pavilion to the Twilight Zone, because that's the only place where the things you say would actually have some clarity and actually MAKE SENSE.

I think he was trying to say something about radical religious folk finding offense to the word "witch" because it will lead the children to devilry or something.

The irony I find in all of this is; one of my local churches played the Harry Potter movies.
