    Commercials I Hate

I hate Ovaltine commertials. They're so corny, and it's like everyone in it's on speed or something! I wonder, do writers make it like that for the sake of a running gag, or are they ignorant of their own tackiness?

I also hate that one McDonald's commertial where that guy gets his friend to rap in Spanish when his girlfriend wanted something spicy. I don't mind Spanish raps, but that commertial is just plan dorky.

The word is spelled "commercial." And I don't watch enough TV to even pretend like I can answer this question.

Those Sit 'n' Sleep commercials are greatly annoying.

"We'll beat any price or your matress is FREEEEEEEE!"

            "You're KILLING ME LARRRREEEEEE!"

            God, shut the **** up.

Oh, and I hate commercials that used licensed music. Well, maybe except for the old Chrysler ones that used Led Zeppelin. That was pretty cool.

I'm not missing television too much these days... though hockey season's coming back around so I guess I'm gonna have to start watching it again...

The more like television that the internet becomes, the less time I will spend on it. Ads are a waste of time and the people who succeed in cramming them down everyone's throats against their will deserve to have their eyes plucked out with a fork.

A common tactic of television stations is to increase the volume during commercials to get you to pay attention to them. Annoying. Unnecessary. I'll have to look more into it, but the television signal broadcast for commercials may have a different set of characterstics from that which can be detected than a regular television signal. If this is the case, it would be possible to make a TV feature that would auto-mute and black the TV screen only for the duration of the commercials, turning everything back on immediately after the commercials are over. Alternatively, automatically flip to a channel pre-set by the user in a list; if one channel that is switched to is also running commercials, automatically flip to one down the list. Then switch to the original channel when they're over.

And if such a signal pattern doesn't exist, it ought to be made into law so that such a feature could be designed into every TV sold. People should have the option of avoiding that crap when all they want to do is sit down for some entertainment, and not have ads crammed down their throat.

But therein lies a problem. We live in the United States, a capitalist country. Gonna be kind of hard to avoid it.

I have a very capitalist idea that may be able to make me money. Nothing wrong with that. It's a very capitalist thing to be able to choose what you view on your own will.

We don't live in a capitalist country; we live in a corporatist country. Huge difference.
