    Copycat Games

I have a question. Have anyone of you guys (i.e. fellow pavilionites) created a game based on a current franchise? What I mean is, did you make your own Zelda, Final Fantisy, ect. game? I'm just curious.

I havent. I don't like copycat games, or fan-made sequels.

There's a golden sun type game on RPGM3. Not really great but it's there.

and a few zelda games for RPGM2. Expedition for RPGM1 is heavily based on Final Fantasy 1.

You forgot Pinoy's Forever's End. One of its earlier titles was Final Fantasy R.

I started making a game based on Futurama. I stopped because it was crappy.

My current project was inspired by Castlevania. I have my own characters, and I've switched around a few details to suit RPGM3, but the general idea is there.

I once had a VERY fleeting idea of making a game based on 24, as odd and as anachronistic as that sounds, on RPGM3.

I remember I was planning on making a Mario game for RPGM2 at one point. Never got around to it though, the jumping would be too difficult to program.

Some of the best games on RPGM2 are copycat games actually, both of the Zelda games were good.

Had the idea of making a Shadowman game on RPGM3. Never did it since it'd be too hard

                      Stubbs, is that you?

Anyway, Jester's Hunt is heavily based off of the Banjo-Kazooie series (although with my own characters and story). General consensus shows that I did a good job at it, if not better than Rare.

Really? I'm an old fan of that series, maybe I should try it out.

                          Don't Forget Doctor Who!

I Wasted The Daleks on a Garbage Game!

It won the RPGM2 Garbage Division!

                          [/shameless self-promotion]

It was just an exercise in self indulgence.

I wanted to make a visually overwhelming game, and Daleks just appeared in the file - so it became a Doctor Who game and possibly the only Doctor Who game out there! (At least the only RPG Maker Dr. Who game) I need to update the screenshots and make it a thread - I added the lights on the Dalek's head (missing in this image) and more.

Too bad it has so little to do with Doctor Who...

                          MOO!

Fatal Insanity is a bastardization of the title "Final Fantasy". Plus some (most) elements were either inspired by or ripped from other games and movies, like Metal Gear, Kill Bill, Harry Potter, Jay and Silent Bob, Brokeback Mountain, and Star Wars.

Valvalidus Chronicles was my way of merging Diablo, Guild Wars, Zelda, and Zero Wing.

Omegablade Saga was originally titled Gunblade Saga.

Yep... Lotsa originality in mah noggin.

I got a few ideas and a very loose premise of the game I'm making from Suikoden.
