Hi guys!! I was wondering... Would you guys like me to make an RPG with a human as the main character or a werewolf?? Also, I want to make a Maple Story type game for one of my friends, and I wanted to know, when the character reaches a certain level, can you let them have a choice for a class, like they are beginner, then they reach level 10, then they can choose to be a warrior, mage, theif, or bowman?? Can you guys help me??

If you wanted, you could do the any character any weapon trick. Werewolf for main character.

OR you could start out by using the boy or girl child model (forget the "real" names) and the after Quest X give the player a chance to choose their own class, then make a "Training Event" or "Timepasses" or a storyteller to explain just how it is that a small blonde girl grew 3 feet taller withing seconds and now has brown hair...

You couldn't use the "equip anything" cheat with the werewolf unless you wanted to equip the WW with a dagger or a Glaive (as its class specific) so I would advise against that route.

Other than that, my adiveis just to have fun with RM3. It has a lot of limitations, but it is a lot of fun and as long as you're having fun then it doesn't matter much what anybody else thinks, right?

Or you could have the main character turn into a werewolf, or get the power to turn into a werewolf, if that is possible, as Magus said, on this very limited maker.

Believe it or not, it is!

For example:
"Linus" is a typical child in the Kingdom of Landarea. That is, until one day, when werewolves attack his small village. Although Linus escapes, he is bitten by one off the wolves and gets a strange feeling when staring at the moon... After a couple of weeks (read: quests) Linus transforms into a horrific beast! His mother cries, but Linus vows to kill the original werewolf (with his Sliver Axe!) and free himself from the dreaded curse...

Again, you can amke up your own storyline (and place/character names) but basically put in an even that adds Werewolf to the part and removes Linus (or whoever) and to the player it will appear as if Linus was actually transformed into a werewolf!

You can't really have a level requirement for getting promoted into a new class, either, unless you did something complex like tracking experience with variables, which is too complicated imo.

Rather, at just a certain point in the story when it's time to transition into adulthood, grant the character the switch to a new class. That can be done easily.

Hey Doj!

Having your main character as a werewolf sounds like it might make for an interesting game. I've only used the character model as an NPC, but yeah, go for it.

As far as a character getting to a certain level before being given the choice to change to a wolf. Hmm, well, you could just have an area open up later in the game that will give the player the choice, not depending on experience level, just progress during the game.

And you can have your character be human by day and werewolf by night!

I'll code it out if you need it, but basically just use day/night events with party character changes (and a wolf howl SFX from morning to night, cause, come on. )

Actually, you'll have to switch out the character and replace them with a new one with the new class.
There's no way to change a character's class mid-game.

Yeah, that's what I thought, just that coldwar's post confused me a little bit.

Sorry. I know you can't just straight up change classes. You need to make a new character and assign them the new class.

YOu could even make a game where you pick which race you would like to play as (3 in 1 deal) or have the game cut back and forth and then at the end you have to face-off with the three "heroes" and the winner would represent which race defeated the others. Like a 3 in 1 ending!!!
