Some of the PvE content initially listed on GuildWiki does sound kind of cool. Most of the new spells seem kind of underpowered, honestly... and I'm surprised they added no new elites.
I didn't actually play any of the preview material, though... what was your experience like?
I still haven't gotten too far in Prophecies or Nightfall (the brisk pace of Factions made it a joy to play through), so I might just skip GWEN and just wait for GW2 to come out.
If you own all 3 you might want to pick up gwen for the sake of GW2. Bonus items are always nice.
I never even started faction's story. Thankfully I love experimenting in pvp.
Nightfall I enjoyed a bunch. I've been stuck on the 2nd to last mission forever.
I will admit I feel underwhelmed with the new skills. However cracked armor is interesting.
Really I think they were being carful about the preview. As there are supposed to be 100 new skills total and I only counted 11 on my dervish. meaning if another class got around 10-12 it only be around 88 skills.EDIT: My bad they all have 10 skills making the total 80 skills.
I may have to look at the wiki though.
The PvE alone makes me want to buy it. It's that good.
Oh, and it has a bunny of doom. You can't go wrong there.
I also bought the GOTY Guild Wars and both expansions I'm still on the fence on getting EotN though (btw my Guild Wars screen name is Dark Lombax if anyone wanted to add me to their freinds list)

Guess I didn't notice that line before... Factions has easily the shortest PvE campaign, and in my opinion the best. There are only a few primary quests between each of the 13 missions, and they tend to involve more fighting and less running around... the missions and even the quests are HARD (if you're not careful with tactics, your party will find itself fighting literally dozens of enemies at once), and most Bonus Objectives are simply defeating the mission quicker, so you don't have to bother with extraneous stuff. The scenery is beautiful but rather repetitive.
The whole mantra of Factions seems to be "minimalist, but intense." It's not everybody's cup of tea, but I found it to be by far my favorite (and the only one I've been able to get myself to complete). I'd recommend giving it a try.
Nightfall is by far my favorite. I don't think you can top that. I have heared that Factions story is beyond stupid, mainly because it was made by a totally different section than the ones who made Prophecies, Nightfall, and EOTN.
After I get my 15k armor I may gave Factions a go. I just bought the PVP pack at least.

From stuff I've seen on GuildWiki it looks like Nightfall is going to get a lot better. But right now I don't like it, everything is "kill Corsairs" or "increase your Sunspear Rank." I'm at level 16, just made it to the second continent. What bugs me most is that with Heroes, it becomes hard to find a team of people.
Factions' story was weak, but there were parts of it that I liked a lot, particularly in the Luxon/Kurzick arcs. I just really liked the fast, challenging, party-oriented gameplay. Yes, there were two dev teams working simultaneously; one doing Factions and one doing Nightfall. I don't know who did EotN, and I had thought that both teams worked on Propheices together.
It's definitely interesting to see the difference in design philosophies; I wish each team had the chance to produce one more campaign on their own.
