I've been a fan of Jefferson for a while. That man was a pimp.

Well I guess who ever wrote the pledge of allegiance was a fool then (the whole One nation under God deal). Also the way you hear the modern presidents speak about it you really begin wonder.

            Good find Alto.

Forgive me if I don't have a correct time line but the whole religious founding stems from the Puritans and is reinforced by the Enlightenment. I believe the Revolutionary War was sandwiched between them.

No he was just a guy who put it in their as a part of his own agenda and nobody called him on it because it was like 1950 or something.

The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.

Thank you, Valkysas. Most mentions of God in relation to US Government are in response to the Cold War. Differentiating ourselves from the godless communist USSR.

I'm not at all familiar with this part of history, but that's an interesting site.

It would be interesting to read biographies of these guys and dig more into their views.

Not really, no. It actually feels missing now that it's no longer used. The idea that it wasn't always in there is news to me.

Yeah, that's why I was under the impression that we were founded on Christianity. People colonizing here to avoid the junk churches in England were pulling at the time. (Arguably, we're pulling the same junk now, it seems. But I'd rather not get into that discussion right now.)
