*spoiler warning*
I started watching Gunbuster 2, since its being fansubbed, so I decided to try to watch the old Gunbuster.
I had an old DVD with the first two episodes, and I just had to tweak my PCs DVD drive a bit to play it. The the last four I had to download, yeah I know its a bad thing, but if I ever come across a box set I'll sure as hell buy it.
But anyway, it has to be the sinlge greatest anime Ive ever watched. There were so many parts that almost made mewant to cry because they were so damn sad.
The way everybody kept meating up with each other but they were all aging differently becasue of that light speed travel was awsome. It was so sad to see how she kept missing out on her best friends life.
Then when Smith died. Holy crap. I had only known who the character was for about 20min, and when he died I actually cared about him. So sad.
And the ending. OH GOD THE ENDING. They had to leave all the others behind, to start that huge bomb. The whole time warp thing leaving them 12000 years in the future, then as they headed back towards earth thinking the plan failed. All those cities light up spelling out "Welcome Home" across the earth, just like what that girl promised she'd say to them when they return. I wanted to jump and yell! It was so happy and sad all at the same time.
I loved every damn minute of it. Mabye Im just a panzie thinking it was so sad, but so what! It was awsome!
