Without knowing exactly what you're wanting to do, I can only offer some pretty basic advice.

    - Get the basic design of the map finished. Don't worry about the details, or even how it looks at all right now. It helps to draw a map on paper as a guide, but it really only winds up as a point of departure usually. Either way, it will come in handy.

    - Once the above step is complete, COPY the map, and work on the copy.

    - Use the 'smooth' tool VERY VERY SPARINGLY...just give it a gentle >TAP<. It's easy to erode your map to nothing if you're not careful, but ignoring the smooth function can lead to some very blocky-looking maps.

    [] - Shows the waterline
SELECT - superimposes the terrrain map onto the ALT map
Push the right analog stick to UNDO

I figured as much. I also noticed that you didn't have too many posts, so you may have not noticed that thread existed.

The main thing to remember is, with any map that includes nature, is to not make things symmetrical. Nothing in nature is in a straight line. Examples that come to mind are forests, rivers, etc. Also, don't clump the small stuff, plants, rocks, etc. together. Even though you have a very limited amount of these objects you can place, spread them out all over the map.

I agree. Making them all in one place may make that place look really good, but the rest of the map would be empty. Or you could use only part of the field, making a field for each two cities, for example. You travel between kingdoms by warping or taking launchpads. That would allow to clup objects up and make it look pretty.

The only problem with "Hub Maps" is that your game may take on a non-linear aspect that makes it quite easy for the player to fight through one area, then take his/her maxed team and Jeggernaut the entire rest of the game.

If you do use a Hub, make sure to use the variables so that the launchpads to the next area remain closed until the player is finished with everything that can be done on the current map. That, or make sure to balence the monsters so that players are "forced" to complete one map before moving to the next.
