    July NPD Software sales

Showing once again what really sells in America.

    1. NCAA Football 08 (360) 397,000
    2. Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s (PS2) 339,000
    3. Wii Play - (Wii) 278,000
    4. NCAA Football 08 - (PS2) 236,000
    5. Mario Party 8 - (Wii) 177,000
    6. NCAA Football 08 - (PS3) 156,000
    7. Pokemon Diamond - (DS) 144,000
    8. Transformers - (PS2) 143,000
    9. Guitar Hero 2 - (PS2) 138,000
    10. Guitar Hero 2 - (360) 108,000

I'm not trying to make any point, but it's always interesting to see what's really the top sellers contrary to what "gamers" like us are getting.

Poor Pokemon Pearl is outsold by Diamond again because of the name alone.

What I find interesting (and this hasn't been release as far as NPD goes) is that Madden didn't make a blip on the radar for the Wii...in fact when I checked, more 360 copies were sold.

I can't believe NCAA outsold Guitar Hero 80's.

I can't believe Wii Play outsold all but two games.

Well, everyone needs more than one Wiimote...it is a "social console" after all...and most people don't know it would be better to save that 10 bucks.

Why would anyone buy a football game for a Nintendo console?

Cuz you can do the motions of catching the ball, and throwing the ball, and...pushing someone. More people are into that then you'd think.

I know I'd give a basketball game like that a shot...as long as it had online.

I just don't trust Nintendo to pull off a sports game that doesn't star Mario. Speaking of which where the hell is my Mario Football game? Bowser as fullback? Hell yeah.

Because nintendo is the only company that publishes Wii games, right?

I'm not sure if you'd see that since it's such an American sport...I mean, they are a Japanese company, so...yeah. Soccer is understandable, because of the worldwide appeal, and even so w/ basketball now.

Yeah, this isn't DEVELOPED by Nintendo either.

My friends are some of the people who enjoy Madden and NCAA for the Wii. Especially my one friend who sucks at the non-motion versions because he can keep up with everyone skill-wise.

Oops, I kind of assumed NCAA didn't come out for Wii since it wasn't up there...

I wonder how Strikers will fare...while it IS a Mario game, it's also a sports game...and I've noticed Wii owners aren't more prone to being into sports.

Actually, I don't think NCAA is. Whoops.

But I did see NBA Live. Your dream come true, Kire.

I've been in a game store several times where someone has come in for a remote and the clerks pushed Wii Play hard on them instead.

Nintendo needs to release Wii Play 2. THIS TIME, WITH 2 EXTRA WIIMOTES!

More big bucks! Big MONEY, BIG QUICK!

So is Wii Play really that bad, just curious as I was thinking about getting it, since it is only $10 technically.

I don't think it's worth ten dollars. buy some candy with the money you save.

I can see someone having some fun with it in multiplayer, but the game just was not designed for single player. regardless, the games are short and lack any long-term appeal.
