    why are so many games ruined becuase of crapy camera angles?

    ive been reminded by this yet again with a recent play through of wild arms alter f. the camera job is annoying, forcing me to spend more time adjusting the over sensitive piece of garbage then actually moving. ever time im in a vehicle i end up driving backwards just because my camera angle cant adjust for the fact that im facing the god damn other direction!

    this isnt the first game to be crushed by camera angles. ive played tons with hideously designed systems where at times you cant even see where your going because you cant adjust the thing. why havent developers figured it out yet?

    I don't think alter code f was ruined by the camera. I think it was ruined by the buggy translation that had text getting scrambled and often running off the side of the screen. wtf agetec.

    as for camera angles, both sonic adventures had camera problems, although 2 improved a lot.

    I've never made it past super mario 64's clock level because of the camera.

      Everyone'll lynch me for saying this, but that's completely how I feel about Halo's vehicle controls. It feels like you just sit there and fight the camera. FIGHT. Not control.

          I always thought Alter Code F was ruined by horrid game design.
          The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.

              at least the US version is missing the dozens of game-crashing bugs that the japanese version has.

                yet they decided that picking up items on the world map that caused random sections of the landscape to disappear, making it impossible to pass, was an alright bug to leave in? id have to say in this game its a toss up between the two here. though i prefer the original wild arms to this rendition i will still say its alright.

                @halo comment: ohh god i know. i dreaded entering any vehicle in that game because the camera would immediately declare war on me.

                @loki: bad spelling? ive just invented the first original language in hundreds of years!

                      This topic reminds me of how I wasted a month of my life on that terrible game.

                      Blech.

                      It just showed how stale and tired the Wild Arms formula has gotten over the years. I felt the same way while just recently playing Tales of the Abyss, but at least I only wasted 10 hours playing that one.

                          I like games that give me unprecedented freedom in controlling the camera. I usually find myself rotating the camera just for the fun of it. Shadow of the Colossus uses great work of the right-analog camera control.

                            Monster Hunter is definitely a game that needs its camera fixed for when you get caught by a wall the camera doesn't want to go behind the wall (In fact, a lot of games won't let you move the camera behind a wall), , so you can't see what's going on in front of you. When that happens, I can't tell if I should block or roll out of the way, but no matter what I do I get caught in a wyvern's attacks.

                              Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom has the worst camera quirk ever.

                              Whenever you try to make the camera go through a wall the thing goes phycho and starts spinning around for a second or two while looking straight down, stopping at a random angle and leaving you guessing what to do next. Plus it has one part where the camera stays in one place and you have to find and move a block in another room to move forward.

                              What really ruined it for me was the slog through seven nearly identical stages towards the end, plus the entire story, start to finish, was lame (I mean lame even for Untold Legends).
