Shadow Hearts: From the New World

I've not been interested in a console RPG for a long while. Then I saw this.

Yes. An RPG with a unique setting: great depression-era America.

I enjoyed the first Shadowhearts, never got to play the other.

I've never understood what's up with you and the setting. If anything, the setting to me is the least important part.

    Anyways, looks pretty cool.

Setting basically determines the constraints of the story. What characters can, can't, and will do is determined by the setting. For example: you won't likely see a gun-slinging character in a medieval fantasy setting.

Setting determines what you can have the story center around, and some of its themes. Which explains why so many medieval fantasy-setting RPGs follow the same cliched plot outlines. If there were that many modern setting RPGs, they'd fall into the same trite cliches and traps.

Sure, cliches and plot outlines can overlap settings, and do, but setting ultimately determines what you can work with. A different setting can make an RPG an entirely new game.

Well, the Shadow Hearts games aren't exactly steeped in fact, Terrortoe.
Never said or hinted they were, however, the Shadow Hearts games are a fantasy setting that isn't the trite and overdone medieval. Something different for a change.

Interesting how the first started out in the Victorian era, the 2nd in WWI, and this just before WWII. Seems that eventually, the series will get to modern day. I love exploring this game's timeline.

                I loved the first two.

I can't wait to play this one. I wonder if Jochitim's sister will be in this one?

Played the first one, never beat it. Tried it again and got bored.

                  Never touched the second.

Maybe I'll give this one a shot. Hopefully the battle song won't be as god-awful.
