    Rune Factory

Anyone else pick up this game? I have to say, this is so far the best Harvest Moon since the 64 version. The action RPG elements make it feel really fresh. The voice overs suck, but hey, you can't win at everything.

I picked this up too. Can't wait to try out more of it.

Beginning was rather funny, I thought. Don't gimme a hoe when I ask for water, biznatch!

I'm intrigued, but I've never played a Harvest Moon, and Animal Crossing made me want to throw my DS out the window in frustration. Do you think I'd like this one?

its a farming game with some action elements. If you like more "simmy" type games with cutsey characters and storys, with a little action thrown in, then you will like it.

if you werent previously a fan of the Harvest Moon games, i'd recommend renting it first.

Do you still have a limited time frame for doing everything? Cause that's always been the killer for me and Harvest Moon.

i do not belive that there is a time limit in this one, atleast no one has mentioned that i need to do this, or that within a 2 or 3 or 4, whatever year timeframe. Girl gave me a hoe and watering can, showed me the field, and let me go to work.

The days are about 20 minutes long, which is a perfect amount of time. I usually have my chores done by noon, then have the rest of the day to do what I please, such as mine, fish, go dungeon crawling, etc.

                      Re: Rune Factory

So I rented Rune Factory. I've never played a Harvest Moon game before and I'm not sure I'm doing it right. I mean how to do things is easy to figure out I'm just not sure what all I should be doing and when. I bought one of every seed in the shop and planted them and now it takes all my RP just to water them. So I'm guessing I shouldn't have planted that much this early on. And the town is kind of confusing, seems like most of the time there's not really anything going on there.

                          Re: Rune Factory

You guys should also check out Innocent Life on the PSP. It's the futuristic harvest moon spinoff that's sort of the opposite of Rune Factory in that it has more adventure and story elements than action ones. It's got some of the best graphics (and music) I've seen/heard in a handheld and it also has a robotic wheelbarrow which is seriously the best idea they had in any harvest moon since... well, ever. Much better than the horse from the first game.

I really like where Natsume... or Marvelous... or whoever the heck develops this game series is going. Instead of giving us stale release after stale release (GAMECUBE HARVEST MOON ARGHFLGHFL) they're branching the series off into new directions with unique spins. I can't help but praise developers who try new things because there's always financial risks for entering new ground.

Well I picked this up at the Toys R Us sale, and it felt pretty good. Can't wait to start getting into it, though I wish I could play it more often, but work takes up quite a bit of my life, with the training I have to do as well. But once I find my friend code I'll put it up. Harvest Moon with monster battles is an awesome idea, plus it feels very much like the 64 version, which I like a lot.
