Kinda fun for a Dragon Warrior game/RPG on the NES. Looks great too. Or at least the environments. A few neat things going on. For NES I mean. Funny thing is, some of the things I see happening in this game aren't possible on RPG Maker. Kinda disappointing that there doesn't seem to be any boss theme so far, though the different overworld themes is a nice touch. I haven't found any music that's real annoying yet. And the sound effects seem softer than in the GBC editions, which is nice. It's nice that the AI for my NPC party members is decent. That first one doesn't seem to let my HP go too low before healing at all (also neat how townspeople reacted if I put that member up in front). I really wish the bag feature had been implimented at this point. It probably isn't as big a problem with multiple party members, but during the first chapter, I constantly found myself running out of inventory room, what with only having one party member the whole time that could hold items.
I'm constantly worried, though. My NES is in less-than-poor condition. Due to DW4's strictness about holding in the reset button while turning it off in order to keep the saves, I lost some saves the first couple times I turned it on because the darn thing didn't want to boot up properly (ranging from doing nothing to constant resetting to glitched graphics). Doesn't matter about the first time, as the saves deleted belonged to the previous owner. The second time, I had put in an hour or two of work. I think I remedied the problem by sticking my Final Fantasy game pak a little over the DW4 pak inside my NES, but if that thing starts messing up and my file gets erased (made it to Chapter 2), I'm going to freak. I'll probably wind up trying to find a top-loader, since as I understand it those things don't have nearly as much trouble as the front-loaders. Not to mention the top-loaders generally don't have what appears to be spagetti sauce between the door and the connection.
I wonder if using a Game Genie would help. Not to put in codes or anyting, but because the game wouldn't technically start until I finish putting in codes (or lack of) and thus it couldn't complain about the constant resetting or powering up/down that I have to go through if the game doesn't want to boot up.
