    Help! my diet soda replacement

So, I haven't made it really all that public, but for the last couple weeks I've switched from diet soda to water. It's driving me bat**** insane!!!! I've been on the same diet and excercise plan, and while I consider myself to be in pretty good shape, I wanna shed a bit more babyfat.

So here's my weight before getting off diet drinks...

    184.0

Here's my weight AFTER getting off diet drinks...

    184.0

So yeah. Pretty much no change to my lifestyle...I just get friggin frustrated because a diet drink every once in a while as I'm grazing during the day for some taste (other than 1 meal a day, I have 200 calories every 3 hours). It's made me very irritable at times.

So, I went looking for some flavored water...'cept all flavored water adds SUCRALOSE or SPLENDA or ASPERTAME. Aren't these the ingredients of death that are supposed to make me fatter and kill my heart or some ****??? I'd have some fruit juice, but if I do, I usually have that as one of my 3 hour meals (200 calories for a small Minute Maid bottle of apple juice).

So, is flavored water any better for you then diet soda??? Should I say **** it and go back to the occassional diet soda??? WHO AM I GONNA END UP GOING BENOIT ON?!?

P.S. getting through work in game development is ****ing hard without caffeine, and we have coffee...but I usually add Splenda to that to make it bearable. ****.

    Ok, dude. Calm down....breathe.

Flavored water is, in my honest opinion, the best option for liquids that not only give you a satisfying taste, but also helps avoid incredulous weight gain. My brother gets this kind of flavored water from Wal-mart called "Fruit 2-0" (the 2-0 is supposed to be a creative way of saying fruit flavored water). Anyway, I've tried the stuff myself, and find the taste great, and it contains no calories.

Please, for the love of God, stay away from those freaking diet sodas. Sure, they may contain no calories, but they still contain sodium, along with the fact that the taste is horrifically bad. I hope this advice proves helpful, and best of luck on your diet, man.

Quit whining about your weight already. And I don't think something such as soda intake will help you shed that "baby fat".

You need to change your exercize plan because you've hit your plateau. And something like changing what you DRINK is not going to help you at all. My advice: load up on protein, and switch to some more intense work-outs instead of all that cardio. Then you'll turn that baby fat into muscle.

Sorry if I got a bit carried away. I thought it was the sucralose and aspertame and whatever in diet sodas that are so bad for you...so its moreso the caramel coloring, sodium, and brominated vegetable oil?

Water is always 10x better than soda. Don't doubt the water.

But it also tastes 10x worse.

You're just too used to sugar. IMO, fresh cold filtered water is some of the best tasting stuff. Especially when your so thirsty your mouth is dry. MMmmmm.

Believe me, I work outside. I wouldn't drink soda in that heat.

So water is great when you don't have access to anything else and are extremely thirsty.

I'd rather drink good water than sticky soda. Unless it's an occasion (dinner out, theatre, etc).

Also Kire, don't use Splenda to sweeten your coffee. You're better off using regular sugar, or honey, if possible.

Don't use splenda at all. Gives ya terrible gas, trust me.

I just can't stand the one berry flavor. The one that tastes like medicine.

He only gets the Strawberry flavored kind. It's very good. You getting this, Kire?

I'll have to agree with Denethor on the soda thing. And YES, whether or not you drink soda DOES have an effect on your body fat. There is a HUGE amount of sugar in soda. Not to mention all of the other unnatural ingredients in that stuff really gums up the works. And water does SO taste good. And I don't need that flavored water either. IMO, the plain water tastes just fine. I used to think like all of you soda drinkers, until I got over my caffine addiction. (Trust me, its the caffine talking). I only drink soda if I'm out to dinner or at a theater or some other occasion.

[Edit]Though I do have to agree with toaster as well: Weightlifting/resistance workouts are 10x better for you than cardio-vascular workouts. For one: you burn more fat, and two: you gain more muscle. I go to the gym every other day and, on the way to the weight-room, I pass a whole bunch of fat loads doing cardio; going about 2 miles per hour on an exercise bike while trying to keep their weight under 1,000. But take a look at the people you see in the weight rooms: Three fourths of the people that walk in that room are toned, sexy, and muscular. There is only one obvious conclusion: Weightlifting and resistance workouts are much better for you. That isn't to say you shouldn't abandon cardio. It is good for your heart and lungs. I still spend time on the treadmill before I go on to do my workout.

When I was reading Ivan's post I didn't think the made a well thought out connection for his reasoning about one exercise program being better than the other. There is only one obvious conclusion. It's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

As far as the water thing if you're complaining about the taste then I suggest you get yourself a Brita water filter and keep it ice cold in the refrigerator. Best freaking water ever.
