Barry Bonds Breaks Hank Aaron's HR Record (8/7/07)

    http://nmsn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7092162

I'm pretty split on this. A part of me feels content that such a baseball player could reach such a pentacle in this game. The other part of me wonders whether this feat was truly earned, amid steroid allegations. I, for one, don't even see how beneficial steroids can be to a professional athelete, especially considering the tremendous sacriifices the body has to take when consumed, which is why I support the crackdown of steroid use among atheletes. I just don't know whether the entirety of me wants to say "Yay" or "Boo."

EDIT: He beat the record. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7...PHCP&GT1=10347

if he uses such drugs i can see why he would, to try to break the record and earn fame and what naught. the real looser is those who take drugs since any achievement they get while on them is false and they will always know they never earned it - to bad most dont care.

i also agree with eliminating such substances from sports.

Thank you Ωbright for the sig fix!

I gotta see when he breaks it. It's gonna be one of the weirdest moments in sports.

He's a jerk, and I'm positive he's completely roided up.

Bonds never hit 40 or more homeruns until his 8th season, then gets 73 in 2001. He's packed on 80 lbs in 10 years, and gets more solid as he gets older. No older professional athlete can continuously gain muscle and get stronger with each passing year, unless they're on roids. If you saw him at the start of his career, he was a twig, then he becomes this massive hulk? Not common amongst most major league players, if at all. Hank Aaron was legit. He didn't have these incredible homerun spikes out of nowhere. It was all progression and stayed at a pretty flat rate.

Anyway, Bonds is just a jackass who wants to be known as the best homerun hitter of all-time. Well, if and when he does break the record, he'll retire and then Alex Rodriguez will come out and destroy Bonds' record.

My opinion is that sports are unimportant and boring, therefore this whole Barry Bonds thing is just some annoying thing I have to listen to.

Well, consider it just like hearing about Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears and ever other Hollywood celebrity that doesn't matter or isn't important. For sports fans, it's a big deal.

Some of the pavilionites care about sports.

Nobody here cares about Paris Hilton.

                    Bad analogy.

I was talking about in general, not strictly the Pav. Although it is sad that some people really care about Paris Hilton.

It's not like anyone's asking you fellows to stop everything and read this topic. I don't go into WoW topics and be like, "BOY DO I EVER DISLIKE WARCRAFT."

But I guess the major difference is that Warcraft is much easier to avoid than Bonds. I had to sit in the sports section when I worked at my dad's newspaper this summer. I had to hear them talk about the schmuck all the time, while I... well, I was here talking about video games.

So that Bonds, huh? Sounds like a jerk.

                        Hey, he's left-handed.

                        I bat left-handed.

                        At least I used to.

Exactly. I've gotten my fair share of neg rep for trolling a sports topic anyway.

                          Resume discussion.

The record has to be the one case where I'm actually rooting for A-Rod. He's also a jerk, but at least he's naturally talented. I hope he destroys Bonds' record.

I don't think anybody's complaining about the topic being discussed. Just chiming in to say we don't have an opinion on it since we don't care about sports.
