    Revamping the rules

Ignore that sticky topic I made here about tighter rules for the pavilion. I deleted the topic, those rules don't exist anymore. Mr. letter writing parent, if you're reading this, it's not my job to raise and look after your kid on the internet. it's yours. with the age that you said they were, there's no reason for the child to be on the internet without you sitting right there and supervising everything that is acessed. by relying on random people to do your job, and insisting they shelter your kid for you, you're going to end up screwing her up far worse than we ever could by using normal every day language here. she's gonna be a wreck when she gets older. good job.

    So the rules are changing.

    This is my approach.

The current rules and enforcement are not clear enough. people are afraid to speak out against people who are acting up because they might get punished for doing so. people are confused about what kind of criticism and such are allowed. there's too much uncertainty, and a lot of peoples behavior here is being effected by that.

We cracked down sexual innuendo and random non-explicit comments quite a while ago. that was stupid. every person on earth hears that stuff every day. not a person is alive today that doesnt know what a penis is. anyone who is offended or upset by that word needs to go barricade themselves in a cave or something because anywhere in civilization, you're gonna hear that word. as long as it's not explicit, I don't care anymore. anyone who complains that we mentioned a part of human anatomy on the forum will be ignored.

If someone is being an ass, do not be afraid to call them out on it. if someone attacks you (or even someone else) first, you can say damn near anything to them in retaliation without fear of any punishment. posts may be deleted, but anyone defending themselves or someone else has nothing to worry about. if you see asshole behavior, go ahead and call them on it if you feel like. whoever started the crap will be punished, or in some cases where its just too big of a mess, we'll just delete the incident and let it go. I'm done going easy on trouble makers because I think they're going through hard times or some other crap in the real world. Up until the end of last year, my life was hell. I didnt let it effect anything I did here. if I can do it, anyone else can too. if things are going bad for you and you need to get some anger out, remember that most likely, no one here had a damn thing to do with it. take a break from the pav if you think you may end up doing something stupid here. the "I had a bad day" excuse that I've been fed countless times before isnt going to work.

If someone is annoying you, you can tell them so. you cannot attack them for it. they don't have to change themselves to fit your idea of what they should be like. repeatedly going after the same person over and over is pretty much the same as trolling, and we don't want that here. say your bit and move on if you have to. if they really bug you, we have an ignore user feature.

If one or more people come out and say they don't like you, thats not a personal attack. not everyone likes each other. several people here hate me. I don't care. There have been topics on this and other RPG Maker sites that call me satan, hitler, a parasite, and a disease. I do not care. for every person that dislikes you, there's often four or five who like you. so don't get upset and threaten to leave, or bypass the threatening and leave. thats dumb. this is a huge community, not everyone is going to get along. accept it and deal with it.

Mature imaginari forum is going to go away this weekend. its stupid. we have a playground. all playground members are automatically allowed in the mature imaginari. mature subject matter can be posted in the PG. no reason to segment it.

These are my ideas. they are not set in stone, they do not reflect the final changes that will be made. it could take a week or more to iron things out exactly.

I want input. from staff, from normal posters. if you have ideas, lets hear them. if you have questions, ask them, and I'll answer. I considered making this topic in the staff forum, but these rules won't effect the staff members that much. they'll effect you guys. so yeah, you have a say in the way the rules will change.

Some things will not change. the swear filter is here to stay, any bypasses will still get you an infraction. still no discussion of roms or the pirated RPG Makers. still no explicit sexual content in public forums. still no flaming or personal attacks. still no spam.

    Your turn.

Honestly, I think this is great. People are moaning and groaning way too much about all of this. Yes, there is a line between real life and internet, but I'd think that internet would be MUCH worse than the real world, and trying to shelter someone on it is ridiculous.

Keeping track of people who start things will also be great, especially with the slight flame-back they will get before it's cleared up.

I'd put in something about topic hijacking. For example, the bridge topic was turned into why something is/isn't in the news. But because we got that discussing the bridge topic in the news, I wouldn't call that hijacking. Someone can still go back to the orginial topic, and everyone else just gets to talk about something thats presumably more discussion-worthy then the orginial topic. I don't see anything wrong with topic progression as opposed to hijacking.

That bit about "defending oneself against a verbal attack without fear of punishment" is the part I'm most content about. It at least lets me know that I don't have to restrict my speech.

Also, as for people not liking other people, to each his own. I've wasted too much time taking one's dislike for me to heart, only to go through futile efforts at patching things up with the person/persons who find me annoying, etc.

You have my full monumental support, Mr. H.

absolutely the way we have to go. as i first said when that crazy lady sent you a letter, we shouldnt be doing her job of parenting. this is the free world and as such you will encounter awful stuff. its best to anticipate that your child will find this crap and speak to them about it so they know its inapropitiate for them. then again the internet has no business for anyone who isnt mature enough to handle it and its content.

the excessive rules where hurting the pavi so its great to finally get back to regular business. we should be mindful that we cant go crazy and cause problems that would get us excommunicated with agetec, we should abide by their standards. rules are needed, but not overboard in enforcement, "more like guidelines."

not sure if this board has it but ive seen a thing called topic split, which takes a topic thats gone way off track and turns it into two discussions (splitting the topic up). that would solve the worst cases of topic hijacking though most topics naturally digresses into a different topic on their own.

That wasnt really hijacking. I just wanted it back to bridges, because people were yelling at each other.

                        Oh...

I've changed my mind Valk, maybe we shouldn't allow sexual innuendos again.

I don't mind this set of rules, nor did I mind the ones that were put into effect not long ago.
