Disc Problems

I've been playing Final Fantasy Tactics and i've really been getting into it again. I unlocked all jobs and have all my characters at level 45 and i'm still in chapter 1.

I've been sweeping through the story, but I ran across a problem. For those of you that are familiar with the game, i'm at the point where Teta is kidnapped by the death corps. and you have to go back to Igros Castle after the Thieves Fort.

I go to Igros Castle, and the game says now loading the bottom right hand corner. Then the screen goes black and it plays the music. All I can do at that point is soft reset.

I took the disc out and wiped it off and cleaned it a little bit. I put it back in and I still have the same problem.

I figured it was just my Ps2, because it is getting old so I tried it in my PSX. I went to Igros Castle and the game just froze on the black screen.


I could go get the disc cleaned at a local shop but I want to know if that would even work. The disc seems scracthed up a little bit. Or do you any of you know any home remedies to clean or fix the disc.

I want a second opinion before I do something I find off the internet and ruin the disc..

The disc is most likely broken. I've found that the smallest scratches can ruin a game, while huge ones have no effect. It could just be a faulty disc too, as I've bought brand new games before only to have disc reading problems.

Thieves Fort? Happened to mine AND Hito's copies. I think it's common. Either before, after, at at Igros around that battle.

do you remember what you did to get past it? i have another save file where i'm at the end of the game, and i remember beating it with the same disc.. and i think i remember the same thing happening before, i just dont remember what i did to get past it.

If you have a save that's past that, then you're fine. If you look around, you might find one online thats right after it. Since this is an RPGM website, I'd assume you (Or someone you know) has a MaxDrive.

Otherwise... no way past it.
