    Movies from your childhood.

What are some of the movies you remember growing up that were these awesome epics? I ask because I recently watched The Last Mimzy and it was disappointing as hell that this is what Hollywood is giving today's kids. Sugarcoated crap.

I'm talking about stuff like The Flight of the Navigator, ET. And to an extent the Dark Crystal. Sadly I can't think of anything else right now. But I'm talking about live action stuff not animated cartoons. Though Secret of Nimh would count because it's so dark I guess.
The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.

Secret of Nimh was a big favorite of mine when I was growing up. I have a copy on DVD now!

I really loved The Last Unicorn, too. That one is a classic, and also dark in its own fashion. I didn't understand it, but I remember watching it many times.

      I said no animated movies.

Neverending story. Maybe Willow. Was that supposed to be for kids?

Willow was one of those movies that worked on kid level and adult level. They made an NES game out of it.

        MADMARTIGAN!

Let's see here... The Ewok Adventure, and The Battle for Endor! WICKET GOOD. CINDEL CINDEL!

Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. I used to watch that all the time as a little kid, until my mom "accidentally" recorded over it.

              Nothing but Trouble
I know the movie is terrible but me and my friend thought Alvin Valkenheiser was the greatest character ever created.

              Milo and Otis.
              Righteous movie.

Again, terrible movie but I thought the part with the venus fly trap was a riot.

              Spaceballs
              I used to love Spaceballs.

It's a funny coincidense, I was actually talking with somebody the other day about how kids watch movies. They rewind different parts and watch the same scenes over and over and they'll watch the same movies over and over. I knew a kid who watched Terminator 2 everyday for a number of years.

Remember, most of that stuff you remember from your childhood sucks now. I'm sure I thought Thundercats was a well written dramatic tour de force what I was 6.

None of those movies are what I'm talking about. The Sandlot being an epic children's movie along the lines of the Neverending Story? You shouldn't be able to make movie topics anymore.

I don't think most people read the first post. Just the title.

All the ones I can think of right now are already mentioned.

Yeah, Cow, you pretty much named all of them. I mean, what else are we supposed to mention, Return to Oz?

There's The Princess Bride. That movie's still good, methinks.

I was hoping there was more.
