Help a newbie? I need some feedback!

I'm getting my game later today and I'm soooooo excited! I order it used from Gamestop, and I payed extra to get it here quicker. I was wandering if anyone has any pointers to help me get started. (I've already watched some instruction vids and read almost every thread in this forum, though)

Also, can anyone give me some feedback for my game idea.

    *Queyland Epics: Monster Hunter*
Long ago, in the distant land of Queyland, on the island Ilse de Tontou, a young boy trains to become a knight. The young boy, Cooren, trains day by day, working hard so he can join the knights in the castle, and defend his king, King Lomare. His friend, who also happens to be a knight, is Sir Yomoha. Yomoha loves his Amulet of Wounds, an amulet that heals, more than anything else. It has a myterious glow about it, and Cooren envies it. Cooren trains under Yomoha, learning the ways of fighting. Yet no matter how hard he tries, Cooren is just never strong enough to pass Yomoha's test. Defeat him in battle. Until one day, Cooren wins, yet loses all the same. He passes the test, but shortly after, a demon intrudes the town and kills Yomoha. Cooren manages to save Yomoha's amulet, and gets his revenge on the demon. King Lomare watches as Cooren finishes the demon off, and calls Cooren to his castle. He assigns Cooren a mission. Defeat all the monsters in Queyland, bringing peace to the world.

I welcome you to the Pav, young one!

On to your story! It seems like you did put a good ammount of effort into the thought and though some of the ideas may seem a bit cliched, there is still plenty that you can do with this game! I'm sure you'll notice that although RM3 looks prettier than the other games (RM 1&2) its extra limiting! HOwever, nothing that creative use of cinema scenes ("storytellers") can't fix, right?

Re: Help a newbie? I need some feedback!

I did try my very best at summarizing it, though the full story is more complicated. It took me forever to get the names I'm going to use just right, but I did it. Also, this game is a game I thought up after I read about the limitations for RPG Maker 3, so I've already worked around most of the limitations. I'm also going to use non-random battles, for two reasons.
      1. Random battles are annoying and non-stratistic.
2.Since the objective is to defeat all of the monsters, it would be wrong to have the same party of monsters again and again. They would never be completly gone.
Like I said, there is more to the storyline other than defeating monsters. There is a lot going on in the island chain (Yes, I forgot to mention Queyland is an island chain) of Queyland. I also have premade maps i made with paint so I know how each island is going to be made. Each one is unique in its own way.

I have to tell you man, no matter how much tweaking you did to your game after you learned about the vast variety of limitations of RPG Maker 3, your still not going to be able to make your game exactly the way you want it. Simply because even though you think you know ALL the limitations of RPG Maker 3, I promise you there will be more, and it will tick you off. Just giving you fair warning.
Just because you know the limitations, doesn't mean your going to be able to avoid/solve the problems your going to inevitably to run into. Murphy's Law, BRUDDA!!!

        P.S.

Did they even have Oriental Knights?

It sounds really muddled. I would play on him wanting the locket, and possibly killing his friend or taking it off his dead body without care about his friend.

I didn't do that good with the summary, and that is a good point Vonwert. I know! The demon could take it when he kills Yomoha and then Cooren slashes at him and makes him drop it. (The reason Cooren needs to have the amulet is because the demon hurts a lot and the only way to win is the amulet) Then, when Cooren is sent off by the king, he asks what he should do with the amulet, and the king tells him that Yomoha would want him to have it.

Anyone else wanna give me some feedback?

Hey and welcome to the Pavilion Linkman712.

First of all, I think it's great that you've spent time planning out your maps by creating them in paint first. That's really cool.

The only thing I would recommend to do first is to go through the manual page by page and then go through the menus in the game to see what the options you have really are.

What time are you getting your game today?

Also, double posting is frowned upon. I know you're probably excited about posting your ideas, but you've got to give people a chance to read and respond to your ideas. You can't expect 10 posts in 30 minutes. So settle down, enjoy yourself, look around, and give people time to respond.

As for your idea, it just sounds to me like a standard kill-the-monsters plot with a mystical item added. Not bad, but pretty cliched. Take the idea in some interesting directions, and you might have something.

Pagerron: It might not have a manual with it because as I said in the topic post, it's used. Also, I don't know when it'll be here. It's coming by UPS and it's in my town, but it's been in my town since this morning. I'm starting to worry that it got lost.

Perversion: I said it before but you probably didn't see it. I didn't do good with the summary, so it seems cliche. But trust me, the acual game itself has a whole lot more meaning to it.

My game just came in! Yay me!

Forget the reasons. You just grabbed my interest. I'm already this game's number one fan.

My current project is a "clear out the monsters" plot, and it doesn't even have a mystical item tagged on. Of course, there's more to it. The monsters are all there for their own reasons, and there are political tensions amongst the human kingdoms the monsters have invaded. But it's pretty much a "go out, find the monsters, and send 'em packing back to their homeland" deal.

Thanks for the great feedback Crythania! I almost decided the game was to cliche and give up on it but now that i have a #1 fan... lol.
Can I ask you guys a question?

I want my main char. to fight his friend. How do I make them fight?

In order to play "Dear Braveheart" you need to save it to a memory slot on your card, then you can play it.

So, do you have the manual? If not, you can find one at the RPG Maker Magazine here: http://www.rpgmmag.com/rpgm3/faqs/rm3_manual.zip

As far as the invisible event goes, what exactly is supposed to happen with this invisible event. Is it set to auto or touch?

no, i dont have a manual pagerron, and now ive got most of it figured out. there is one bug though. the event i was talking about, i got it fixed. it is supposed to fight yomoha, but instead it fights a clone of the main character first, then after that it fights yomoha. any suggestions?
