    Icy hot question

I biked about ten miles yesterday. Woke up today absolutely stiff. My back hurts so badly that I cannot bend over, even a little. So I put icy hot on my back, and now it is both hot and cold, and my back is once again happy.

But how is it both at once?

If ya'll don't answer this I won't get any sleep tonight. I must know.

    Re: Icy hot question

I see plenty of women out there that are both hot and cold at the same time. I'm not sure if that explains this, though.

Niagara Falls to Hamilton and back. Like anyone knows where Hamilton is, but still. In the middle of the night.
      ...
      Just saying.

OK, as for a more serious answer:

        Methyl Salicylate - HEAT
        Menthol - COOL

Those are the active ingredients in IcyHot, and I'm guessing one works faster than the other. Also: if you are a guy, don't use it as a stimulator: it'll give you a painful and prolonged erection.

Man, sometimes the Internet is just TMI...

          Magic.
His soul swooned slowly as he heard the snow falling faintly through the universe and faintly falling, like the descent of their last end, upon all the living and the dead.

You know this from your own personal experience/mistake/not mistake?

Nah, I just read it on a site.

                Funk answered the thread's question.

My friend put icy/hot on his testicles and had to call poison control.

Thought it only applied if you actually consumed it?

Nope. Methyl Salicylate is extremely toxic in large doses even through skin contact. And you definitely shouldn't use it at all if you're pregnant.

So only applying it to my back won't kill me. Right?

                        You should be fine.

It's probably not much more dangerous than using an anti-persperant.

I know where it is and that is pretty impressive.

I biked from western Toronto to Scarborough and back in 30+ weather. Yay me?

30+ is hot when converted to the real temperature scale, right?
